The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Gun Control

I've never been one to favor the idea of gun control as defined by extremist who favor the idea of law abiding citizens being unarmed while violent criminals continue to terrorize our streets with guns. I believe law abiding citizens should have the choice to arm and defend themselves, because it shouldn't be just the bad guys with deadly weapons.

However, I do believe that law abiding citizens who choose to arm themselves are actually granted that choice should bare in mind that it is NOT a 'right' but a responsibility. If it were a right, then anyone could have a gun. But I honestly believe that not just anyone should have one, nope... there should be rules and regulations to limit who has them. Only those willing to be responsible, to display proper handling, care and maintenance of the firearm... and be willing to be correctly trained in handling and firing said firearm should be entitled to have one.

There should be rules to this gun ownership thing.

One major rule of gun ownership should be a requirement that the owner be smarter than the gun itself.

Case in point:

A woman... shooting at her HOME... DROPPED the gun, causing it to GO OFF.

See the problems with that sentence? Those are indications that *someone* was not smarter than the gun.

Story continues:

The bullet went through the woman's kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man's groin before ending up in his coin pocket.

Please people... if you take on the responsibility of having a gun... be smart enough not to try to shoot mice with it, be smart enough not to fire it inside a home unless the situation is life threatening, and for the sake of my sanity- PLEASE do not drop a loaded gun while attempting to shoot mice inside of your home@!@
