but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Crappy Mothers Day

While I would gladly wish all my readers a very Happy Mothers Day, it wouldn't be right to overlook the crappy moms out there. So, here's my list of Mothers- to whom I wish a crappy Mother's Day, and a long jail sentence.

Sherrie Tomlinson should have been home taking care of the children who she brought into this world. Instead, police say that she opted to go gambling.

Siloam Springs police officer Mike Efram was dispatched at 7: 17 p.m. Sunday to West Alpine Circle on a welfare check, according to court documents.

Efram noticed a small child entering the residence as he pulled into the driveway; another child was looking out the front window, according to an affidavit in the case.

The officer learned that a 9-year-old boy was the child entering the residence, and his 2-year-old sister was looking out the window, according to court documents.

The officer asked the boy if anyone was at home with them, and the boy replied," No, I am watching sis while my mom is playing her Free 5 at the casino."

Mother Jaweed (first name not found) was arrested along with her husband and their eldest child on charges of domestic aggravated child abuse and counts of domestic false imprisonment after they held their younger children in their home against their will. Police had received a call about 'possible abuse' at the home. The investigation continues.

And then, there is Alicia Carranza, 23. Police began searching for her before they even knew who she was. The investigation that lead to her arrest began when a infant was found dead in a dryer at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
San Antonio's news station KSAT reported the body was discovered by residents of the facility when they pulled damp, bloody sheets and towels out of the dryer. They found the dead infant wrapped in the linens.

Initial investigations led to Alicia Carranza, 23, who is being treated at the Victory Home facility.

She admitted to suffocating the baby after giving birth. She has been charged with capitol murder and will be taken to jail upon her release from the hospital, where she is healing from the birthing.

Pregnant women are not allowed at Victory Home.

Laverne Vaughn evidently wanted to set an example for her 20 something son- so the two began attempting to peddle a 14 year old girl for sex.
Lavon Carter Jr., 20, and his 36-year-old mother, Laverne Vaughn, are accused of peddling a 14-year-old girl for sex, both on the streets and on the Web site Craigslist.

Both suspects are being held in Sacramento County Jail awaiting a May 27 status conference before U.S. District Judge Frank C Damrell Jr., officials said.

Carter was arrested in Vallejo on Feb. 8, two weeks after a complaint about his illegal activities was filed, reported the case's prosecutor, Kenneth Melikian.

A complaint was filed against Vaughn on April 17, and she was subsequently arrested, Melikian said.

Vaughn is being charged with aiding and abetting her son's illegal activities for allegedly driving the girl to work the streets when her son was busy and letting Carter use her computer to post ads selling the girl for sex, officials said.
