The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Where not to get your bike fixed.

I don't approve of telling people that they can not make themselves better by having a job. And, I wouldn't think to point to anyone and say that they shouldn't be allowed to own their own business.

But I damn well am willing to point to someone and inform people that they should avoid that business like the plague.

54-year-old Harry Garrett is a registered sexual offender. He is classified as a "predatory sex offender" which is defined as the following by Oregon's sexual offender website:

What does “Predatory Sex Offender” mean?
Oregon law defines it as an individual who exhibits characteristics showing a tendency to victimize or injure others and who has been convicted of certain sex crimes. Offenders are assessed on an individual basis to determine whether they will be designated predatory. The “predatory” designation allows law enforcement, or the supervising agency, to notify the community about a particular sex offender.

Garrett, after being convicted for sex abuse and sodomy involving children in 2000, doesn't seem to understand why some people might raise an eyebrow or two at his new business venture. But, I'm thinking you might be able to:

A predatory sex offender on Friday defended his decision to open a bicycle repair shop in downtown Oregon City, saying he has served his time, has grown and changed and deserves a chance.

"If a person buckles down, holds the same job, straightens their lives out, becomes that 'citizen of society,' OK, then they should be allowed to do that," said 54-year-old Harry Garrett.

He spoke out after police in Oregon City on Wednesday sent out a sex offender notice to the public after Garrett applied for a business license for his bike shop, which is located kitty-corner from the Clackamas County courthouse.

Yeah.. that's the guy you want working on your kids bike. Likely providing him with your phone number/ address so he can contact you when it's finished.
