The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Something seriously worth reading...

Every now and then, I get the chance to read something that really sums up everything I think. Today I had one of those chances.

Keep in mind- we have laws requiring some people to report suspect child abuse. We have laws that make bartenders who knowingly serve someone who is drunk more drinks responsible if the drunk goes out and kills someone on the way home. We have laws that say if you enable someone to commit a crime, you can be asked to defend yourself in a court of law.

This... just follows that perfect logic of making all parties step back and rethink their position before allowing a demented sexual predator go free with a quick rubber stamp that declares them 'safe' 'fixed' or unlikely to offend very often.

Record Bee letter to editor:

I do not know what the statistics are on how many child molesters go onto molest when released from prison; I do not know why they are released in the first place. Maybe we need a law that says: "when a child molester is released from prison with the help of his/her doctor/psychiatrist and goes on to molest another child, the doctor/psychiatrist should spend some time in jail as well."

I'm all for that...

The irony is just sickening...

Christi Ann Zelek was innocently teaching a class on early childhood development at Union Grove High School when some meany cops busted into the room and arrested her. Just not fair huh? After all, this professionally trained school official shouldn't be faulted over something as small as her grandkids. And, to be frank- when I say 'small' I'm being literal.

Clayton County police charged the grandmother and parents of 13-month-old twin boys with child abuse after discovering the children weigh less than 10 pounds each — far below the 27-39 pound range for children that age.

The grandmother, Christi Ann Zelek, is the special education coordinator for Henry County schools. Clayton County police Chief Jeff Turner said she is also charged with failing to report the child abuse as state law requires education employees to do.

Zelek was teaching a class on early childhood development at Union Grove High School when Clayton police took her into custody.

"During the interview with police, Christi Zelek told us there was 'nothing wrong with those children,' " said Officer William Clendenen.

Seriously I have a great idea for these three, I say we let them dwindle down to around 1/3 of what their weight should be, and then stand back and discuss whether there is 'nothing wrong with those insane people'.

Aunt stabs 12 year old...

For currently unknown reasons some psycho bitch decided to stab her 12 year old nephew in the eyes. Details aren't completely out yet, but I have this odd feeling it's another case of some worthless piece of trash deciding to inflict pain on a child because they A) can't control their tempers B) need serious time spent in a doctors office on a couch or most likely C) their parents didn't get the message that Roe vs Wade was a success for the thousands of 'pro choice' supporters out there.

Seriously people... I'm getting a little tired of having to read some story about some damn adult behaving like a wild rabies infected animal.

Authorities in Lauderhill said a 12-year-old boy was stabbed in both eyes by a family member.

Police said his aunt stabbed him around 1 a.m. but authorities were not notified for another 10 hours. The cause of the attack and the reason for the delay to contact authorities are not yet known.

But police said the aunt also injured her own eye.

I can't believe they are wasting tax payers money treating this woman...

I hate politics...

Okay, I actually love em. I mean, where else can you find such an entertaining amount of people, who are hired by normal folks to lie, thieve and waste time? It's completely amazing- and almost as interesting as the crime section of the news- you never know who's going to be the next one busted soliciting sex from someone they shouldn't, or convicted for some crime while they cry to the voters that they are 'sorry'.

But, I have to admit- I have no interest in the recent hostage taking at the Clinton head quarters. The alledged possible suspect seems to be shaping up as Troy Stanley, a married man (20 years or so) with at least one child (who is insisting that the 'bomb' is just a couple of flares, and his dad just has some medical issues).

CNN is all over it, as is every other news outlet in the nation.

BUT wait... if you're watching the TV instead of reading the news from the internet, you might be wondering who the hell this Troy Stanley I'm talking about it, cause the name MSNBC is handing out is Leland Eisenberg, or Leeland E. Eisenberg or some variation of spelling on the name.

Either way, the case isn't as interesting as one would think. A deranged man with mental problems wearing something he shouldn't walked into a Clinton office- like that's never happened before. But, on a realistic point- this is clearly someone with issues who wants attention. I wouldn't mind one major news network covering it between other ongoing news... but all of them... non stop? That's a little much, even for this crime blogger. Especially when it seems that the news people aren't even providing any useful information such as a certain correct NAME for the suspect..... other than the live video feed that is currently delayed a minute before you see it.

UPDATE... OMG they really think they might have the right name now Leland Eisenberg. He's been a problem 'round town for a while according to some media sources.

According to MSNBC, law enforcement sources are now saying the hostage suspect is 46-year-old Leland Eisenberg (not Troy Stanley). Meanwhile, minutes ago, Capt. Paul Callaghan of the Rochetster Police held a press conference and revealed… nothing! Every question was deflected or outright rejected

There's reason to believe he might have been drunk at the start of this... although I don't see where that become any sort of excuse for ruining what could have been a night of interesting news with full out coverage of some idiot with issues.

Police Searching for Predator:

After a recent incident, police are now searching for a sexual predator:

Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm an 8-year-old boy was walking home on Augusta near Sinsheimer Park when he was approached by a male driving a black four door car.
The male asked the child if he wanted any money. The child declined and the male got out of his car and took his wallet out as if to show the child that he really had some money to give him. The child continued to decline the male suspect’s offers of money and went directly to his nearby residence where he told his father what had happened.

The male suspect is described only as an average sized college-age white male wearing a black jacket. The vehicle he was driving was described as a black four door that was not new.

Jeanette Michelle Hawes

There currently are hundreds, if not thousands of people all over the United States longing for a child to raise and love as their own. And, while not perfect- almost every county in the US has a child services program designed to care for those children that some parents are either unwilling or unable to care for. As the reader who forwarded me the story said, "If you don't want your babies anymore give them to someone who will love them."

Sadly, Jeanette Michelle Hawes decided that rather than give her children a chance at a life in a loving home- or even giving her children a chance at having a life at all... she'd just kill them.

This, after Richmond County investigators say Jeanette Michelle Hawes allegedly killed her two children inside a restroom. SOURCE

The news article I was sent is currently not available online- but this should give you as much of a image as needed to feel the same horror that I did upon reading it (update, link is live here:

A worker at Food Mart told police she saw Jeanette Michelle Hawes enter the restroom Thursday afternoon with the two children, a boy and girl, and then heard a scream, Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength said.

The worker called 911, and when deputies arrived they forced the door open and found Hawes on the floor, holding a steak knife and covered in the children's blood, Strength said.

Jordon Hawes, 1, and Shakayla Hawes, 3, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Both died of stab wounds to the chest, Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen said.

Really, I'll never understand how some people can actually consider themselves to be parents at all.

Oddly enough, it seems this story gets stranger. A few nights before stabbing her children to death in a restroom- Hawes appeared on the local news talking about another stabbing- that of her brothers dog.

Jeanette, while holding who her family confirms is one year old Jordan Hawes, now dead, told News 12 " I just think, you know, it was wrong for her to actually do that because she could've went and got help or whatever, and you know, an animal is like a human being. That is like killing someone else so I just think it's not right, she didn't have to go that far."

Odd choice of wording, see link for more information regarding the dog incident and further details on the murder of the two little children.

This Week on AMW

This week on America's Most Wanted they will be featuring the following cases:

Eric Rosenstrom: Eric Rosenstrom likes to write murder mysteries, but police say the fatal shooting of a hotel owner on August 16, 2001 is no whodunit -- they believe Rosenstrom is the perp. But with his vast knowledge of law enforcement, he could be tough to catch.

Unknown Sean Taylor Killer: Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, 24, was shot in the upper leg during a home invasion early Monday morning and passed away early Tuesday after losing a significant amount of blood from a damaged artery. A suspect still has not been named in the shooting.

Unknown “Baby Grace” Killer: Cops in Galveston County are waiting for DNA results to confirm that 2-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers is the young girl they've lovingly referred to as Baby Grace. Cops have charged Riley's mother, 19-year-old Kimberly Dawn Treno, and 24-year-old Royce Clyde Zeigler with injury to a child and tampering with physical evidence. In the meantime, cops are still looking into dozens of leads related to young girls who haven't been accounted for.

Madeleine McCann: Possible new evidence in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann breathed new life into the toddler's case this month when a bag of clothing was found just an hour away from the holiday villa where Madeleine vanished. Despite so much time having passed since she went missing, Madeleine's parents remain optimistic.

Tanya Diane Brown: Cops say when Tanya Diane Brown learned it was likely she would lose custody of her children, she packed all their bags and vanished in March 2005. Weeks later, when police arrived at a motel in San Ysidro, Calif., they found evidence proving they had just missed Brown and her young kids. Among the personal items left behind, authorities found a journal written by Brown's oldest daughter, Tori, describing her desperation and fear of being forced into a life of hiding.

Jenny Liang: Hot tempered Jenny Liang has a violent history with the men in her life. According to Las Vegas police her jealousy boiled over to murder when she shot her wealthy boyfriend in the head. Liang skipped to Hong Kong, but now cops believe she may be back in Nevada.

Latasha Norman: Stanley Cole, 23, was charged with hitting 20-year-old Latasha Norman this past October. Seven days after Latasha went missing, her body has been found and Cole was arrested for something much more sinister: he has been charged with murder.

Kyle Fleischmann Missing: Family, friends, and classmates of Kyle Fleischmann started a page on the popular social networking website Facebook to connect with each other and spread news of the missing 24-year-old. Now, the group has over 60,000 members and is still growing exponentially. Not only has the group become a useful way to swap updates, it has brought further media attention to the missing man's story.

Colin Jackson: Six-year-old Colin Jackson was supposed to visit his non-custodial father on August 27, 2007. But what was supposed to be a short visit soon turned into a disappearing act. Thanks to some astute librarians and some help from, Colin and his father were found safe in a tiny western North Carolina town.

You can catch AMW on Saturday nights at 9pm on your local Fox station, or stop by their website for updates to these cases and more.

Maybe they will give him bail again...

Some people are just idiots...

A former Big Brother freed on bail while on trial for allegedly victimizing several boys was rearrested during the hearing after police alleged he continued to contact kids on an Internet chat line despite strict release orders not to communicate with youth under 18.

Now the moms of the alleged victims want to know why the judge granted bail to the accused child molester a second time given the fresh batch of allegations, including violations of the previous bail.

Really? Bail TWICE? Who the hell installed the revolving door in the jailhouse? They ought to be locked up for aiding and abetting.

Where not to get your bike fixed.

I don't approve of telling people that they can not make themselves better by having a job. And, I wouldn't think to point to anyone and say that they shouldn't be allowed to own their own business.

But I damn well am willing to point to someone and inform people that they should avoid that business like the plague.

54-year-old Harry Garrett is a registered sexual offender. He is classified as a "predatory sex offender" which is defined as the following by Oregon's sexual offender website:

What does “Predatory Sex Offender” mean?
Oregon law defines it as an individual who exhibits characteristics showing a tendency to victimize or injure others and who has been convicted of certain sex crimes. Offenders are assessed on an individual basis to determine whether they will be designated predatory. The “predatory” designation allows law enforcement, or the supervising agency, to notify the community about a particular sex offender.

Garrett, after being convicted for sex abuse and sodomy involving children in 2000, doesn't seem to understand why some people might raise an eyebrow or two at his new business venture. But, I'm thinking you might be able to:

A predatory sex offender on Friday defended his decision to open a bicycle repair shop in downtown Oregon City, saying he has served his time, has grown and changed and deserves a chance.

"If a person buckles down, holds the same job, straightens their lives out, becomes that 'citizen of society,' OK, then they should be allowed to do that," said 54-year-old Harry Garrett.

He spoke out after police in Oregon City on Wednesday sent out a sex offender notice to the public after Garrett applied for a business license for his bike shop, which is located kitty-corner from the Clackamas County courthouse.

Yeah.. that's the guy you want working on your kids bike. Likely providing him with your phone number/ address so he can contact you when it's finished.

America's Most Wanted

Just in, highlights from this week's episode of America's Most Wanted:

(November 14, 2007) – AMERICA’S MOST WANTED becomes “The World’s Most Wanted” in a special broadcast Saturday, Nov. 17 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Host John Walsh brings television’s top crime-fighting show to London to hunt for international fugitives including Whitey Bulger, the elusive Boston mobster who is on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, and to search for new evidence in the disappearance of 4-year-old Madeleine McCann.

Bulger has been on the run for years, and possible sightings of him have been reported worldwide, most recently in Italy. AMW will reveal exclusive new information about the fugitive from some of the people who knew him best. In their first-ever television interviews, the convicted mob figure who gave Bulger his start in organized crime and Bulger’s former longtime girlfriend offer new insights and information about Bulger that viewers can use to help authorities finally track down this dangerous man. The story will also feature photos of Whitey Bulger that have never before been broadcast.

The episode will also include AMW’s investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, one of the world’s most closely watched missing-child cases. Recently, John Walsh met with Madeleine McCann’s parents to discuss their daughter’s disappearance. AMW correspondent John Turchin continues to cover the story from the tiny beach town of Praia da Luz, Portugal, where the girl vanished. Turchin analyzes the crime scene and breaks down possible scenarios of what may have happened to Madeleine—in an investigation that brings him face-to-face with the first official suspect in the case.

Teens Arrested in Headless Sex Offender Case

Turns out, Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen's status as a sex offender had nothing to do with his recent murder. Neither did the small fact that at the time he owed money to people. Rather, the 26 year old was killed, mutilated, and burned because two delinquents had too much free time on their hands.

Two teens have been charged in the brutal decapitation death of a registered sex offender in Michigan whose headless body was left to burn in a subdivision in what prosecutors are calling a "thrill kill."

A thrill kill.
"They lured him in the garage where they prepared a space to kill him," Worthy said.

A tarp had been spread on the garage floor, and Sorenson was stabbed multiple times in the back. His head was sawed off and his body wrapped in the tarp, authorities said.

There, on a tarp they allegedly spread out for the attack, they slit Sorensen's throat with a knife and repeatedly stabbed him before cutting off his head with a hacksaw, prosecutors said.

They allegedly used a blowtorch on his hands and feet in an attempt to remove his fingerprints, officials said.

Regardless of his status, regardless of personal thoughts on what sort of man he may have been... no one deserves to die at the hands of two demented little punks just because they have nothing worthwhile to do.

Jumping out the windows..

Cicero Offerle was convicted of being a pervert... or to put it in legal terms of molesting a child. The conviction carries an 8 year sentence, but Offerle isn't serving it just yet- but there is reason for that.

It seems that after the guilty verdict was read, and Offerle was lead out of the court room, he opted to take a short cut out of the court house... by going straight out the third floor window.

Source- "Ran right between the pillar and bench here," Jarboe showed Newschannel 15. "He leap off the third floor railIng and landed on the second floor. It was slow motion. I couldn't believe he did it."

Down below Brent Dubach with courthouse security watched.

"I looked up and that way and saw an object falling from the third floor. At the time, I didn't know what it was," explained Dubach. "The object struck the railing on the second floor and at that time I could tell it was a person."

Sadly, he survived and was sent to the hospital for medical care. On the tax payers dollar of course, but I'm sure that residents of Fort Wayne will be happy to know that they won't be spending too much, since the police guards that were standing guard outside his hospital room have been removed.
While a convicted child molester recovers in a local hospital from injuries he suffered after he dived from the third-floor rotunda of the Allen County Courthouse, he will not be under guard.

Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull signed an order early Friday morning releasing Cicero Offerle on his own recognizance because he is “currently immobile.” Source

Perhaps they should consider getting a taller court house next time, or at least looking into a harder landing pad.

Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen

Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen was a registered sexual offender, his father claims that his sex offender status was the result of a relationship with a underage girl. His mother claims that the status hung over his head like a cloud. Whether it was that status which lead up to the recent discovery of his beheaded and burned body is not currently known.

Tazewell County State's Attorney Stu Umholtz says the 26-year-old was convicted in 2000 and was placed on 12 months probation for having sexual conduct with a 13 -17 year old, a misdemeanor offense.

According to the father, the 2000 conviction was over a relationship he'd had when he was 17 (meaning it took around 3 years to make it from criminal act to a conviction):

Jim Sorensen said the sex offender conviction occurred when his son was 17 and dating a 14-year-old girl that he met on the Internet. Daniel Sorenson thought the girl was 16 and went to Illinois to meet her.

He was last seen alive on Wen night, he worked odd jobs doing landscaping and construction, and the pickup truck which was in his possession (currently registered to someone else) was missing until police located it in the parking lot of a store late Friday. Police have no suspects, no clear motives, and little to give out in way of information to the public.

His headless body was found Thursday morning by a sewer and water department crew at the end of a cul-de-sac, and his head is still unaccounted for.

Police agencies investigating the death of Daniel G. Sorensen, 26, of River Rouge, have served six search warrants since Friday, collected vast amounts of evidence and talked to “persons of interest” in the case, and Northville Township Public Safety Director John Werth said Saturday he believes a case will be presented to the Wayne County Prosecutor, perhaps by Monday.

While he wouldn’t confirm whether anyone was in custody, he didn’t deny it, either. Werth said he’s confident the case would come together.

“We have all the parties, and we have the evidence, and now we need to just put it together,” Werth told the Observer Saturday.

Jacob Randles

Jacob Randles was shot by police. But, don't start feeling to sorry for him just yet. It seems that he was at a party and sexually assaulted two women there, when police arrived to investigate, they found the rapist holding a gun to a woman's head.

After hours of negotiation, the SWAT team moved in, shooting Randles and rescuing the hostage.

Neither woman was seriously hurt.

The officer involved, a 20-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, is on standard paid administrative leave.

Randles is a level-three sex offender, which means he's considered at high risk to re-offend.

High risk to offend again. But, let's just let them back out into society and wait to do anything until they commit another crime.

Anyone else tired of being reactive, and more interested in starting to be proactive?

Amber Alert

There has been an Amber Alert set for a 14 year old NC boy. Police say the boy was able to contact someone via his cell phone after two while men assaulted him at a community center and then abducted him.

Derrick Taylor. is a 14-year-old American Indian male, 5' 5", 124 pounds. He has sandy hair, and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green hat, green shoes, green shirt and blue jeans.

The suspects are two white males who beat him up and threw him in the back of a gold-colored vehicle.

FoxNews (TV, sorry no link) just reported that he indicated that although he was unaware of the location where he was, he believed he was in a shed or storage building.

If you have any information regarding this abduction, call the Cherokee Tribal Police Department immediately at (828) 554-6168 or dial 911.

NBC 17 is reporting
that the Amber Alert has been canceled, although no information is coming out from police as to his whereabouts, or condition.

Teacher arrested

As mentioned before, Kelsey Peterson- former school teacher and current "baby gurl" to 13 year old Fernando Rodriguez took the child and ran off to Mexico.

In a new update to the case, as Peterson has been arrested and the boys has been turned over to relatives.

:They were found and apprehended by Mexican authorities without incident just after 3:30 a.m. EDT. Peterson was in FBI custody and transported back to the U.S., and the boy was released to relatives in Mexico, Waterman said.

"I'm really relieved, especially that the individuals are well and unharmed," Waterman said.

Peterson and the boy fled after police began investigating whether the pair had an intimate relationship, authorities said. Court documents said the boy was last seen Oct. 26.

A judge issued an arrest warrant Monday charging Peterson with kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Peterson also faces federal charges, including transporting a minor across state lines or a foreign border for sexual activity, U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher said. Those charges were filed Thursday.

I have to wonder if she's still on PAID leave, or if the school has stepped up and fired her.

Kelsey Peterson

Kelsey Peterson has reached the much sought after title of "teacher who has sex with students", which has been held by the likes of Jaymee Lane Wallace, Debra Lafave, and Alison Mosbeck. I'm sure her fellow teachers, her family and her students are delighted that she made headlines for her involvement with a 13 year old student.

Kelsey Peterson, a sixth-grade teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School, was placed on administrative leave last week, and police issued a warrant for her arrest on Monday. She is wanted on suspicion of child abuse, child endangerment and kidnappping, authorities said.

Even better, this female sexual predator opted to run away with her teenage victim:
Police believed she was traveling with 13-year-old Fernando Rodriguez, and court documents showed authorities had recovered several e-mails and letters between the two from the school and Peterson's father. In them, Rodriguez and Peterson professed their affection for one another. Source

Peterson's MySpace account, which is private, but gives an excellent quote that she evidently decided was better view in print than practiced in life:

Maybe it's something in the teachers edition textbooks.

Confusing love and...

"He loved her."

That might have been Jeff Banks best defense of his client, but in the end it doesn't hold water. His client, a former priest who viciously attacked a woman in his church office was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in state prison in connection with the attack.

Prosecutors dropped other charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping, that could have resulted in a sentence of life in prison with parole. The duration of his sentence hinges on whether he is approved for parole.

In court Thursday, Chaanine denied he sexually assaulted the woman and offered an apology and a rambling statement about his feelings for her before he was led from the courtroom in handcuffs, court information officer Michael Sommermeyer said.

"He loved her," Chaanine's court-appointed lawyer, Jeff Banks, said later. "His emotions got the better of him. It was the biggest mistake of his life, and he's going to have to come to grips with it."

The woman, then 54, said Chaanine hit her in the head with a wine bottle, stomped on her hand, groped her and choked her until she began praying Jan. 26. She said he suddenly stopped and fled. Chaanine was arrested almost a week later near Phoenix.

Hitting someone with a bottle, stomping on any part of them, groping them and choking them is NOT a sign of love. It's not even a sign of "like". And let's be honest here- it's not the perp in these sorts of crimes that 'have to come to grips' with what has happened- it's the victims who have had these horrific criminal acts committed against them.

I understand the position of defense lawyers, I 'get' that it is their job to defend their client to the best of their abilities, but when one stoops to the lowest level by attempting to lighten the actual nature of the crime by claiming "he loved her"... then the lawyer becomes as flawed as the guilty.

Love is a lot of things, and it will move people to do a lot of things- but I can't believe for a moment that it would cause someone to attack the object of their affections in such a violent manner.

Mom's Pot

A mother seemed to have misplaced her pot, at least until an aide for a school teacher found it in the backpack of the mothers four year old child.

The mother of the boy admitted the pot was hers. More drugs were found in her west-side home, according to police.

The woman has two children, who were both put into child protective services after their mothers arrest.

A completely non crime thing...

One day out of the year that I LOVE shopping is Black Friday. It used to be that I'd panic while basting the Turkey that 'omg, the newspaper might lack one of the ads'. I'm talking extreme panic. To the point that I had to have multiple copies of the paper, in order to ensure that every ad was there.

Then, after cooking, eating and cleaning all day- I'd spend hours going over every single sale item from every single store. I'd hop online to compare 'regular' prices with the advertised sale price. My eyes would drift between the computer, the ads sprawled across the floor and the clock- cause everyone knows that you have to be at the store a good 1/2 before it opens at 5 am.

That was way back, before the best discovery ever. Between now and Black Friday every ad from every major store (and not so major stores too) will be scanned and posted for your viewing pleasure.

Oh... and don't forget to download and SAVE the ads to your computer. Sometimes some store will issue a cease and 'remove our ad' to the website, and if you don't have it saved... you'll find yourself waiting until Thanksgiving to see it again.

Ohio Senate Bill 183

Another reason to support Ohio SB 183..
