but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Bad Girls

As you know, the last few weekends America's Most Wanted was preempted for some sort of sporting event (which yours truly isn't into), but this week they are back in full swing with a special presentation of some very bad women.

Giovanni Ruanova: Federal agents say Giovanni Ruanova and his stripper girlfriend are in love ... with drugs and money. The couple discovered common ground as alleged co-workers in a drug organization worth millions of dollars. The DEA believes Ruanova is a big-time drug runner, and that his sidekick was along for a wild ride.

Annette Sanchez:
Cops say Annette Sanchez was willing to do anything for her drug-running boyfriend -- including lie to the police. When cops found $9000 in her purse, she said it was money she'd earned by stripping, according to authorities. Detroit cops say they might've even bought her story... except for the $1.8 million of dirty money hidden in the trunk of her car.

Ponytail Bandit: The FBI is searching for a young woman who has robbed banks in three states within the last month. The string of heists began in Texas last month, but her spree continues 2,000 miles away from where she started. Now, authorities need your help to find her.

Esther Reed: The case of Esther Elizabeth Reed centers around two disapperances, a number of stolen identities and a long trail of clues. Police believe Reed-- a "missing" person herself-- stole the identiy of another missing young woman. Police aren't really sure why Reed did this but what they do know is this -- there's a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

David Wayne French: David Wayne French lived with his roommate, 51-year-old Frank Johnson, for five years. However, Portland, Ore. cops say those living arrangements came to an end when French, who is transgender and known by the alias Zalia Crizta or "Z", got angry, bludgeoned Johnson to death, and eluded police by jumping out of their apartment's third story window.

And a few "must see" cases that don't include female suspects:

Chester Stiles: NEW DEVELOPMENTS: Chester Arthur Stiles made his first court appearance on October 17, 2007 and authorities say he now faces up to 24 charges related to the alleged videotaped sexual assault of an underage girl and an incident involving the molestation of a 6-year-old girl in 2003. Two days prior, cops in Nevada announced that the nationwide manhunt for Stiles ended when Henderson, Nev. cops arrested the 37-year-old fugitive during a routine traffic stop. Police tell AMW that two officers stopped a white Buick Century without plates at around 7 p.m. when Stiles reportedly gave the officers a California driver's license that looked nothing like him. One of the arresting officers, Mike Dye, stated in a press conference that Stiles admitted at the time of his arrest that "he was Mr. Stiles, the person wanted on America's Most Wanted."

California Wild Fire Arsonist: LATEST DEVELOPMENT: Investigators at the Santiago Fire in Orange County, Calif. are seeking photos and video of the area where an arsonist set fire to the rugged mountainous terrain. Officials have determined that approximately 30-40 people were in the immediate vicinity between 5:55 pm and 6:15 pm on Sunday, October 21 and authorities are following multiple leads at this time. To date, the fire has scorched more than 28,400 acres.

America's Most Wanted airs on your local Fox station at 9 pm on Saturday nights. And, as always, be sure to check out their website for information on these and other cases.

Caught, 14 years later

A rapist who attacked and raped a mother of two was caught after DNA taken after the crime, was recently linked to him.

A masked rapist was tracked down after 14 years when a relative gave a DNA sample in a completely unrelated case. Detectives reopened the investigation into the violent assault in Bridgwater, in Somerset, in 1993 when test results revealed a family connection to the attacker.

More than 4,000 people related to the arrested man were traced and tested before detectives caught up with 42-year-old Geoffrey Godfrey.

Godfrey, now 42, raped the 36-year-old married mother of two after he attacked her as she walked along a canal towpath. Although the rapist’s DNA was recovered from semen samples, Godfrey was not on any data-base.

Canada has problems

A 2006 report showed that British Columbia has problems with dealing with child abuse.

"Providers were unanimous in their view that program funding is insufficient to meet the needs for SAIP services," the 26-page review stated.

The report said the program was a "critical element" of services related to child and youth mental health and "deserving of a more explicit focus."

"There is a pervasive view among providers that the program has been neglected by government decision-makers over the past several years," the report stated

Matthew Clinton Bynum

Matthew Clinton Bynum, 23 is currently being sought by police for allegedly luring young girls he met online to meet with him, and then sexually assaulting them. The warrant includes 8 felonies:

five counts of sexual assault on children pattern of abuse, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of Internet luring.

While police have not said how many victims are involved, they did offer that it was "multiple cases" and provided other information on the suspect:

But he did release some information about Bynum in hopes that residents will help authorities locate him. Bynum was last seen in the Denver area, where he was living, in mid-September, authorities said. He was driving a white, 2007 two-door Chevrolet sedan with Colorado license plate 817 OUZ.

Its not abuse

Scumbag parents all over the US will be pleased to know that they can now shave their child's head and have their genitalia pierced, then claim it was done to "save the child" without having to face criminal punishment. Especially if they do it in Naples Florida, and are lucky enough to have the same dumb ass jury that a 39-year-old woman, whose name is being withheld to protect her daughter's identity, did.

But, that lucky desision only works if you are the one ordering the piercing, not the piercer as Tammy Meredith (who did the piercing at the mothers request) was.

A woman who had her 13-year-old daughter's genitalia pierced to make it uncomfortable for her to have sex was acquitted of aggravated child abuse on Thursday.

The girl, now 16, had testified that her mother asked a friend in 2004 to shave the girl's head to make her unattractive to boys and later held her down for the piercing.

A jury deliberated for about three hours before deciding the mother's actions didn't involve punishment or malicious intent, or cause permanent damage or disfigurement.

Seriously folks, this mother did this because her daughter was having sex with her boyfriend, and she wanted to take a little anger out. Not on the boyfriend of course, but on the child.

Just sharing...

I've started something new, and wanted to share it with all of you. Given the special topic... I thought you might be interested.

Perverted Primates, because some people are just subhuman.

Important case

Your help is being requesting in a missing persons case. This is the case of a missing child, believed to be in danger. Please see Crime Scene Blog for full details.

Naked On the Beach

A man who was reported walking along side a child on a California beach was arrested after officers arrived on the scene. Which, under normal conditions would seem oddly over reactive. But, these weren't normal conditions. As it turns out the man was 31-year-old registered sex offender, Hubert Haraszewski.

Oh, and he was naked, which is why he was reported to begin with. And, it gets worse:

Rangers stopped the man, who told them he was the child's uncle, officials said. Child abuse detectives determined he had repeatedly molested the child, whose age and gender were not disclosed, officials said.

Crime Prevention Month

With Trick or Treat right around the corner, I though it was time to mention that America's Most Wanted has set up a great feature for Crime Prevention Month that includes tips on staying safe this holiday:

This Halloween, safety-minded parents with young kids might find that besides traditional trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, there are several fun alternatives for children to engage in that help to keep them protected from the dangers of the streets. The AMW Safety Center helps to point you in the right direction.

For more information, and other "stay safe" related posts, be sure to check out their AMW Safety Center. It's geared towards kids, and even has a few reminders for parents.

also has provided a quick list that you can go over with your child, and print off for future candy collection nights of horror.

And, from everyone's favorite candy- check out the Safety Quiz at Hershey.

Fit for Trial...

State Supreme Court Judge ruled that an exconvict accused in the savage murder of a young woman is fit to stand trial, as he well should be.

Williams, who served eight years for attempted murder, is accused of sneaking into the 23-year-old student's building the night of April 13 and forcing his way into her apartment.

For about 19 hours, prosecutors said, Williams raped the woman on her futon bed, tied her up with computer cables and used a knife to slit her eyelids.

Police said Williams forced her to swallow large doses of over-the-counter pain medicine as a sedative, which damaged her liver, and he inflicted burns by dousing her with bleach and scalding water in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence.

Williams tried to burn the young woman alive before he left, prosecutors said. He was arrested a few days later.

Shocking ...

Actually it's not that shocking, it's sort of- well- the same old news we hear yesterday, just with different names.

A 33-year-old high-school teacher was arrested after admitting that she had sex with a 16-year-old student, police said.

Christina Butler, a ninth-grade teacher at Middleton High School, admitted to the relationship with the boy after a series of events Tuesday that began with a police stakeout targeting street crime at an apartment complex, police said.

Proof anyone can be stupid

Don't even get me started on how I feel on this one...

Months after Catholic priest Alan Placa was accused of sexually molesting three children, Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani hired Placa, his longtime friend, to work in Giuliani's consulting firm.

Although, you can be sure that this pretty much confirms I won't be voting for him... ever.

You Should Die In Jail

That might just be one of the most fitting comments ever ottered by a judge, and likely one of the truest also.

A young girl who was molested by a trusted elderly family member sat in court with her parents Tuesday, listening as a New London judge sentenced 80-year-old James J. Nieto to 30 years in prison.

“You should die in jail,” Judge Stuart M. Schimelman told Nieto after referencing “heartbreaking” evidence of damage to the girl and her sister.

While the victim was set to give her impact statement, she opted out shortly before it was time, and her mother took her place instead, sharing the feelings that countless other parents have when they find their child has been terrorized by some sexual deviant:

Their mother spoke on their behalf, giving free rein to the anger that had grown since she discovered Nieto, of New Rochelle, N.Y., molested her daughters during gatherings at a relative's home in Voluntown. She said Nieto had destroyed her children's trust. The children are related to Nieto through marriage.

“I hope while you're in prison, the same thing happens to you,” she said. She wished on him the same feelings of being small and overpowered. She hoped there would be nobody for him to talk to or trust. She told him to “live for a long time” with the knowledge of what he did to her daughters.

Michigan Laws to Change?

It's at least a start:

A House Republican proposal would make the registry retroactive to include some offenders who were convicted of crimes before 1995. That’s when the law creating a registry took effect.

Republican lawmaker David Law of Oakland County’s Commerce Township is behind the plan. He says people convicted of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13 should be on the registry no matter when the offense happened.

I couldn't agree more. And, personally-- I don't think that WHERE the offense took place should matter either.

Now, if only the rest of the states would start making these changes.

Well... at least he wanted to stop

Most sexual offenders want the world to buy into a false sense of security when it comes to them having paid for their crime, and thus being "okay" to roam around in society once again. They want us to forget their past crimes, and naively accept that they are "safe". Most of them, but not all of them. There is a small, undisclosed number of offenders out there that are willing to admit that they can not be stopped- at least not if they are out in the free world, where a potential victim is around every corner.

A convicted sex offender tried to castrate himself with a knife after apparently having an urge to offend again.

After the 59-year-old Springfield man severed one of his testicles and flushed it down a toilet, he called a friend for help. Paramedics arrived and treated him for his injuries, and he was rushed to the hospital, the Springfield State Journal-Register reported. Police would not identify the man, but say he is expected to survive.

The urges don't leave... and yet- the courts release hundreds of these predators back onto society every single day. At least this one was willing to admit something that the head shrinks and courts won't.

Kids do the darnest things...

I have to admit it... I got the biggest kick out of this story:

Paulette Lynn Spears, 33, who lives in the Minnehaha area east of Vancouver, was arrested Saturday evening after she drove to a fire station and said she had a medical problem. Guided by her son's description of what he could see from the car, as well as by global positioning technology to track the phone calls, deputies arrived less than a minute later.

Emergency dispatchers received a report of a four-door Nissan sedan being driven erratically four minutes before the first call from her son, sheriff's Sgt. Randon M. Walker said.

"He said 'I don't know where we are, and Mom's not acting normal,"' Walker said.

As the operator began asking the boy for landmarks and the direction the car was traveling, Walker said, Spears took the cellular telephone from the boy, told the dispatcher not to worry and hung up.

The boy called back, and again his mother cut short the call, Walker said.

Calling it what it is

More than once, I've found myself dumbfounded by the news media's journalistic endeavor to "lessen the blow" of a story by sweetening it up with the exclusion of the correct terms. They'll gladly substitute "sexual relationship with a child under 13" for "raped a child under 13". A baby had deliberately become a "fetus". Someone died, when really they were murdered. I know, it's a play on words. And yet I have a problem with it. It not only dumbs down the story- but it makes it easier to swallow. We lose a bit of the nature of the crime, we become a little less sensitive to what really happened. And, with crime- that should never be the case.

I wasn't going to comment on the David Copperfield rape allegations. Because, others already have- and they've done of good job of it.

Really. I wasn't going to touch it.

And then I read this line:

"The cancellations came after FBI agents conducted searches in Las Vegas last week following allegations that Copperfield "forced himself" on an unidentified woman."

Forced himself?

That's how the major news media is now beating around the bush to avoid saying rape?

Do we really have to tone down what the allegation alleges? I mean, we can still read between the lines- we know what it's really saying... so why not just come out and say it?

Has it become that unPC AGAIN to just say the word?

I'm not a morning person

The 20 year old plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment and simple assault, after having kicked a toddler and then squeezing his face hard enough to leave bruises on one occasion, and having punched the boy twice a few days later. The boy suffered from bleeding around the brain, and severe bruising on his face.

But, Juan Arreola thought that he had a good reason for his abusive actions when he entered his plea and responded to the judges questioning with ""I was working till midnight. I'm not a morning person." The judge, Judge F.P. Kimberly McFadden, had merely asked if that was how he treated all 2 year olds. Needless to say, she wasn't a bit happy with his excuse.

McFadden said she was almost speechless.

"You're going to look at me straight in the face and say 'I'm not a morning person,'?" she asked.

The judge ordered Arreola to undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluations and set sentencing for Dec. 14. The maximum penalty is a state prison term of more than 20 years.

Honestly, there are tons of people in this world who are not "morning people". In fact, those who know me can testify that I myself am not one- but I can not for the life of me see the connection between beating a child, and not being a morning person. Yes, I'm a little grumpy in the early hours... but there is a HUGE difference between being grumpy, being sleepy, being "so not in to being awake at that time" and PUNCHING a child.

I seriously can only hope that this judge gives this loose canon the max.

I don't know about you, but somehow I'm lacking sympathy for poor Burt and his family. It seems that while the 16 year old spent a year in juvi, he spent his days talking to his family about twice a day, everyday. Now the family is stuck with a $6,000 phone bill, and want pity or something.

"It was something that I needed, to be able to talk to my family, to be able to get through my day-to-day life there," Burt said. (1)

Yes, jail is difficult- it's an entire society that most of us know nothing about, and juvenile jail is not much easier than "big people" jail. And, of course, Burt's story pulls on the strings of any parent who may have a way ward parent.

Burt Sharpe had been in the Scioto prison in Delaware County about a month when a boy he shared a cell with shoved him into a wall and punched him in the chin.

That was the first attack in a series: A boy socked him after losing a chess game. Another boy cuffed him after a one-on-one basketball game, cutting his lip, bruising his eye and chipping a tooth.

At the Cuyahoga Hills prison in Cuyahoga County, another inmate pummeled Sharpe, then 16, in a stairwell, tearing a retina and sending him to the hospital.

Sharpe is a scrawny 5 feet, 6 inches. He has a speech impediment and sometimes pauses between syllables as he tries to enunciate. (3)

I know, sort of heart breaking isn't it? But before you get all choked up over the needs of a 16 and his family- let's look at just what Burt (AKA Bert) was spending his days in jail because of.

Police say a 16-year-old boy who was visiting a friend tried to rape the friend’s 4-year-old sister.

Police arrested Bert R. Sharpe, 16, of 9747 Cleveland Ave. NW in Lake Township on Tuesday night on charges of gross sexual imposition and attempted rape. Police said he had sexual contact with the girl at about 9:15 p.m. June 29 at a home on Valley Drive NW.

Police Lt. Stanley Strausser said the mother reported the incident after finding the boy on top of the girl at their home. The parents had left the girl home with her teenage brother. (2)

This is not saying that he deserves the sort of treatment that he has received, but let's be frank-- had he NOT molested a 4 year old child, he wouldn't be in kiddie prison to begin with. And, whatever pain has been inflicted upon him, he's not completely innocent in his behaviors himself.

And, now that his short year is done- the past is behind him and he can move on. Of course, it's a little different for his victim, and her family. She'll be dealing with this for a long time, and her family will be stuck with worries that the sexual offender who violated her is running free. They also get the privilege of knowing that despite his actions against their child- as far as the State is concerned, Burt isn't enough of a danger to actually be put on the sexual offender registration list. After all, he's just a minor.

A year, and pretty much a clean slate- that is what Ohio decided a little girls innocence was worth.

(1) (2) (3)

It's because he's black.

At least that is what Donald Edward Lynch would like you to believe about his run in with the law. He'd also like you to believe that just because no child has stood up in the last four years pointing a finger at him, that the charges against him must be wrong.

Personally, I'm not believing either line he's trying to sell.. and with the charges he's racked up- 11 counts of rape of a child, 38 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of aggravated sexual battery, I'm thinking you might not buy it either.

Alleged child molester Donald Edward Lynch is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio for an identity hearing.

Lynch, 66, was taken into custody early Saturday morning after he was spotted by Mexican state police about 20 miles from Brownsville in El Mesquital. He is one of the FBI’s and “America’s Most Wanted” fugitives.

AMW Updates

A few quick updates from America's Most Wanted:
First, AMW is announcing the return of Freeman to US soil.

Accused child rapist Kenneth John Freeman, described by the U.S. Marshals as the 'King of the Child Exploitation Suspects', returned to the United States today, escorted by senior law enforcement officials from the U.S. Marshals Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

There will be exclusive video of this on the AMW website in the morning.

Another point of interest is a new feature currently being offered by AMW, which will be showcasing some Real Monsters for the holiday season:
Every October, people all over America dress up like monsters and other things that go bump in the night. And while a good scare can be fun, we at AMW know that real-life monsters exist out there. All this month on, our producers will tell you about the scariest fugitives they've ever profiled.

But that's not all, we want to hear from you too! So log on to and tell us which fugitive scares you the most. And keep checking back, because we may feature your story sometime between now and Halloween.

For featured monsters, or to share your thoughts on which profiled case is on your "worst of the worst" list, visit this link, and be sure to check out their video blogs from the producers telling who they find the scariest.

Senate Bill 10

The following is an invitation to a rally. The following links will take you to a website that is holding a counter rally, for those who support SB 10.
The rally is being formed in order to counter a rally being held by sexual offenders in Ohio who are fighting against Ohio Bill 10, which will make significant changes to the SOR laws,

For a shortened list of the changes, please see this page -

As mentioned this rally is being held to counter a rally by sexual offenders which is being planned to demonstrate against Senate Bill 10. And, as those who know me know- I personally believe that due to their crimes- they are entitled to lose a bit of their freedoms, in order to ensure that our families and friends aren't losing theirs. It is important that if you are able to attend, you plan on doing so. If you are not, please consider sharing this with your family, friends and co workers. It's time that those of us in the position to, take a stand for victims, and demand that our leaders not only follow through on this, but continue to make improvements in the future.

The "Silent No More" rally information included in the following email is being sent all over the US, and posted on many websites, in hopes that sexual offenders, and their families will rally against the Bill- making a strong enough impact to prevent these measures from going through. This would be the rally that we hope to counter with our own supporters of the Bill.

If you are not able to attend, but would like further information or would like to contact your representatives to show your support for this Bill, please feel free to contact me, and I'll answer any questions you might have.

SILENT NO MORE - OHIO In response to the passage of Senate Bill 10 in Ohio, Soclear Media Productions proudly presents an educational forum on December 1, 2007 at the Statehouse in Columbus, beginning at 11:00 a.m."
Guest Speakers:Tom Madison, CEO of SO Clear Media Productions, INC.

Linda Pherson, President of SOSENMargie Slagle, Activist, Ohio Justice and Policy Center

Tamara Jackson, Counselor for Sex Offender TreatmentCheryl Griffiths, R.N., Chief Operations Officer of SOSEN

Everyone is welcome to attend For more information, please contact Jackie Sparling at or phone 740-354-7919

My fellow American Citizens:

Over the past few years, Registered Sex Offenders (RSOs) have had more and more of their basic human rights and freedoms taken from them. It doesn't appear that this process will stop any time soon. Recently, Ohio passed Senate Bill 10. If you haven't yet received your notification from Attorney General Mark Dann's office indicating your "tier" level, it's on its way. If you are at present classified as a low-level sex offender in Ohio, your new level under Senate Bill 10 could put you at a higher risk level, up to and including "Predator" or Level 3. This bill is going to seriously and negatively affect many Registered Sex Offenders and their families. Some RSOs, including people with a year or less left on their sentences, will have their registration requirements extended by this bill. For others, lifetime registration will become a reality. On December 1, 2007, Soclear Media Productions will sponsor an educational forum at the Statehouse in Columbus, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Registered Sex Offenders and their families are urged to attend this peaceful assembly. We want to show our legislators that we strongly support the rehabilitation of RSOs, and their reintegration into society as law-abiding, contributing members. Plan to attend and spend the day with us, as we endeavor to educate the public by replacing myth and gossip with truth and fact. This is our opportunity to show legislators and the public-at-large that constitutional protections and laws must apply equally to everyone. Fair and just legislation will do far more to ensure the safety of our country's children than this overly broad and repressive law. For more information about the rally, please contact:
Jackie Sparling,
Chief Operations Officer
Phone: 740-354-7919
If you are on Probation or Parole now, and will be on the date of this event, please speak with your PO and get WRITTEN permission, SIGNED by them, for you to attend. If they will not grant permission, PLEASE send someone in your place. We want to have a strong showing.

And, by all means feel free to contact those listed directly above, and explain your feelings on their rally against SB 10.

Now now little perv offenders, don't get all angry and start passing messages between each other using the sexual offender forums... I can't be blamed that you can't keep your nasty thoughts/hands/bodies to yourselves.

Without a name

He was given a proper funeral, and over a hundred people showed up to mourn the little boy. There were flowers, teddy bears, balloons and tears offered in a display of grief for the toddler. The eulogy given by the reverend touched everyone in attendance. The only thing that was missing- was the very thing that made the occasion even more somber... there was no name to etch into his tombstone. The little boy, whose body was never claimed had been found dead two years early.

The unidentified boy, believed to be 3 or 4, was laid to rest in a section of Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton known as "Holy Innocence," among the remains of 200 other children who died too soon. His gravestone says simply: "Son Unknown -- But Not Forgotten Oct. 8, 2005."

It was on that date that Ted Bruder of Bolingbrook found the child's decomposed remains while walking his dog, Buddy, near Route 59 and I-88 in a wooded area between Naperville and Warrenville. Bruder knelt by the gravesite Monday to say a final goodbye to the little boy he found.

We should never have to bury a child without giving him the respect of having his name known. He deserved better than to have had his body, laying lifelessly, found along the side of a road as if he'd been nothing more than a discarded piece of trash.

The toddler had black hair, weighed 38.5 pounds and was about 3 feet tall. He appeared to be of either Asian, American Indian or Hispanic descent. His badly decomposing body was found in a blue canvas laundry bag.

For two years, the DuPage County sheriff and coroner's offices tried to solve the mystery. An autopsy did not find obvious signs of trauma.

Sheriff's detectives put out national alerts and chased more than 100 leads, including telephone tips, from California to New York, while forensic scientists worked with the remains to extract DNA. Other experts in areas from bones to bugs were brought in to find answers. Artists came up with various sketches of the boy's face.

AMW this week

So I lied a little, there is really no America's Most Wanted this week, but that's no reason to skip out on checking in on what has been going on over at the AMW website, where there are active case updates, past cases and new information every day.

I know, if only there was a way to keep up to date on the latest happenings there, huh? Well, as of today- there is.

The new AMW widget. Feel free to grab your own.

Just one voice?

Often we find ourselves in a position where we don't agree with the way things are, but we feel powerless to do anything about it. Take for instance, a reader from here. She wrote a while back, concerned about a sex offender who was making visits to her children's school. She'd complained to the school, voiced her concerns to anyone who would listen- but yet nothing seemed to be working.

She began writing letters, much like this one:

I really hate to be writing this letter, but for the second time this year, we have run into the same register sex offender during an inside school function. The first time was this spring during our Elementary's Fun Fair. We immediately notified a police officer - who was aware of his presence, and told us he was a free man. The next day I was on the phone with the sheriff's office and e-mailed every one of our legislators.

Wednesday night at the middle school choir concert, my daughter and a few of her friends noticed a man staring at them and then recognized him as Brian Cook, Registered Sexual Predator, sitting in the audience before they went on stage. This made them extremely scared and terribly uncomfortable, which made it difficult to perform. They should NOT feel this way at a school function! They should NOT be subjected to his presence! And as parents we feel we shouldn't have to worry about these type of people having access to our children at school! We lock & secure all the doors but let him, a known sexual predator, walk right in? Please tell me something will be done.....

The responses she received were less than promising, this one came from a member of the school board:

We will continue to do all we can to protect our students and staff.
In the course of doing that, we can not violate the rights of individuals and, in this case, the rights of another parent to watch his/her child at a school event.
Tim Zigler

Now, what is most interesting here is that while the school board member seems to be all about "rights" he fails to even put into context the simple fact that Ohio law allows for school districts to block sex offenders, via trespassing laws.

The concerned mother wasn't about to give up, in fact the refusal to put kids first from the school board only fueled her fire- she set up a petition and a website: . Of course, she didn't stop there either.

I've come to know a little more about the situation through conversations with the mother in this case, and so I feel compelled (and very proud) to let everyone know that yeah, just one voice can make a difference- you just have to be willing to use it.

She has been, and here's the update to her story:

The Ohio Attorney General's Office said individual district boards of education already have some of the requested power through rule-making authority on trespassing and requiring all visitors to report to the school office upon entering the school premises.

However, the attorney general is willing to go further, working with advocates such as Priddy and Cox to convince the legislature to add the ban to state law, said Leo Jennings, communications director for Attorney General Marc Dann.

Fake Crimes vs Real Murders

His books were all based on a rather morbid level of grossness, but that's the norm for most crime fiction. Where normal ends and shock begins is when life starts to imitate art... and the gruesome details jump from the page of a book into the apartment of an author.

An aspiring horror novelist was arrested after police discovered his girlfriend's torso in his closet, a leg in the refrigerator and bones in a cereal box, the city prosecutor's spokesman said Thursday.

Nearby they found the draft of a novel titled "Cannibalistic Instincts," said the official, who spoke on customary condition of anonymity.

I hate to say it, but it gets worse.... via Fox News.

When did parents get stupid?

I'm not all that old. Oldish, almost. But not old. Still young enough that while growing up, my father had a cell phone. But old enough that it was really called a car phone, and not a cell phone- and it was almost as big as the car itself. Still, that's not OLD. It's not been that long since I was a kid myself. And yet, every day I find myself in this odd position of wondering just when it was that parents generally became stupid. Not "too lazy to interact with their children", not "too involved in work to spend time teaching their kids"- but literally- stupid, horrible parents.

I know it started sometime prior to my time as a kid- although it wasn't on the grand scale that it is now. Just look at some of the quality parents we seem to be producing:

Mother Bought Guns for Pennsylvania Boy Charged With School Plot

Seriously, buying a troubled teen guns?

And, as if we needed more contestants for stupid/bad parent of the year, we have Nicholas and Lola Kampf. They kidnapped their own child (who was 19 at the time) and attempted to take her out of state in order to force her to abort her child.

Sadly, they have fierce competition for the "Worlds Worst Parent" award- Misti Mina Hassan. She gave her son a prescription anti-anxiety drug overdose which resulted in his death. He was 9. She followed up her bad parenting skills with a failed (half assed) attempt at suicide. To bad she succeeded on the first task, and then failed on the second. I'd have much rather it had been the other way around.

I rarely do this....

But, I'm going to mix politics with profanity tonight.

I voted for Bush. Twice. I have never regretted that, been annoyed about it a few times- but never regretted it. Except for the last few days, when I've been left with foul words in my mind, and more than a bit of anger in my body.

So, this is what it has come to, me reading this --->Father of Murdered Girl Questions Bush's Support to Halt Killer's Execution and being left with nothing to say, other than:

Fuck Bush.

I'm tired of standing behind someone who would close his eyes to millions of criminals and then plead for our congress to give them a path "getting away with breaking the law". But... this is more than being tired of someone. This is being down right pissed.

Two girls were RAPED, SODOMISED, and MURDERED. He was caught, convicted and sentenced to death.

But, Bush wants to fight that conviction. Not because an illegals life is worth more than a child's life, but because a rapists life is worth more.

I'm sorry- but the bigger crime outweighs the smaller crime. I don't care if this monster was white, green, blue or spotted... born here, on the moon, in the ocean or magically summoned to life... green card, vacation visa or natural citizen, he committed heinous crimes against innocent children. He ought to have already been burning in hell by now- not having the President jump around kissing ass to defend him.

Tell me, Mr. Pres... how would you be feeling if those two teenage girls had been YOUR daughters? Would you still be so willing to defend this man? Would you still hold that position if this was about the murder of one of your children:

Around 11:30 p.m., as Ertman and Pena passed the young men, Medellin grabbed Pena and dragged her down a hill.

According to court testimony, Ertman was able to run away but heard Pena's cries and returned to help. The other boys grabbed Ertman, and for the next hour proceeded to rape, sodomize and beat the girls before strangling them.

The final act of brutality came when the girl's bodies were stomped on to make sure they were dead, court testimony shows.

The boys' were so brazen about their actions that one of them, Derrick Sean O'Brien, even turned up smiling on videotape taken by local news crews reporting at the scene.

The girls' bodies, meanwhile, were found four days later in a nearby woods.

O'Brien, Medellin and the other gang members were arrested after police received a tip from a brother of one of the gang members.

O'Brien told police that he and the other gang members raped both of the girls, and that Medellin strangled Ertman with a red nylon belt that was pulled so tight around her throat it snapped in two.

So, yeah. Profanity and politics.

Fuck you Mr. Bush.

Police officer gets off, and then does it legally too.

Someone tell me what the purpose of sentencing someone to 45 years is, if you are going to be a moron and suspend the sentence two seconds later. Seriously, explain it to me. And- explain how this "sentence" including the tossing away of the sentence can be anywhere close to proper, when the perp is a former police officer, who committed his crimes while he was still a police officer- and whose crimes were against children and sexually motivated:

Randolph D. Smith, 60, pleaded guilty Thursday to six counts of indecent liberties with children, getting a 45-year sentence - all of it suspended. All the incidents occurred while Smith was a sworn police officer.

"At least it's a start to ruining his life," said one of the victims, now 39, who was 13 at the time of the first incident in 1982. "At least it's a start to holding him accountable. He ruined his own life by choosing to lead that lifestyle."

He said he believes Smith has victimized other adolescent boys, and hopes the publicity surrounding the case could spur others to come forward. The man's name and another victim's name are being withheld because the Daily Press does not publish the names of sexual assault victims.

Five of the incidents that Smith pleaded guilty to involve the police officer sexually assaulting the boys. A sixth incident involved Smith watching one of the boys as he took a shower.

Idiot judges, and more reasons not to move to Newport News.

Police Net 41

Forty one child pornography suspects that is. Most of the arrested suspects were members of social networks used by teens, including Myspace and Facebook. Here is a link from NJ gov describing the operation. (Story quoted below linked at end of post)

The investigation, dubbed Operation Silent Shield, encompassed 15 of New Jersey's 21 counties and numerous law enforcement agencies. The arrests began 10 days ago and continued through Thursday, state police said.

The 41 people, who range in age from 14 to 71, were charged with child pornography possession and distribution and face 18 months to 10 years in jail. They have jobs ranging from elevator repairman to car salesman to security guard to landscaper to deli owner to auto mechanic. A Woodbridge man who was arrested was a referee for girls high school volleyball, state police said.

No one has been charged with creating the images and videos, though state Attorney General Anne Milgram said the investigation is continuing. She said officials will scour thousands of DVDs and more than 80 videotapes confiscated during the arrests.

Milgram said the videos last up to 15 minutes and feature children estimated to range in age from 4 to 9 years.

AMW Exclusive:

Man at Center of Nevada Child Pornography Case Speaks Exclusively with America’s Most Wanted

Interview Clips Available Online at AMW Website;

Darrin Tuck Claims Innocence

(October 1, 2007) – When Darrin Tuck gave Nevada police a videotape containing child pornography images, it sparked an investigation that has led to a nationwide manhunt for an accused child predator—and to Tuck’s own arrest. Though Tuck claims to have found the tape in the desert shortly before turning it in, authorities say he had it in his possession for as long as five months, and even showed it to other people. In an exclusive interview with America’s Most Wanted Tuck insists he viewed only a brief segment of the tape, and it made him “sick to [his] stomach.” He also claims he didn’t show it to anyone else and quickly handed it over to the police.

Clips from the interview are available for viewing on the America’s Most Wanted website, Tuck says in the interview that when he realized what was on the tape, he went to the police because “somebody like that needs to be off the streets.” Police say the tape shows the rape of a young girl. The alleged rapist is a man named Chester Stiles—currently the target of a massive manhunt. Tuck says he does not know the victim or the alleged perpetrator. He maintains he has nothing to do with the tape other than finding it, and insists he has cooperated fully with the police. “They wouldn’t even have the tape if it wasn’t for me,” he told AMW. “Now I’m getting railroaded for it.”

Tuck went on the run shortly after his interview with AMW, but he recently surrendered to authorities. New clips from the interview were posted on this past weekend.

America’s Most Wanted: America Fights Back airs on Saturdays 9 p.m. ET/PT, 8 p.m. CT on FOX.
