The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Timothy Strickland

Timothy Strickland 38 of Florida was once friends with his neighbors across the street from his home. Now, after years of living so close to each other, the neighbors are feeling that it's about time for Strickland to move on to a new home.... I'm sure that it's safe to assume that they were hoping his new home would be a prison, but thanks to a local judge there's is little chance of him going anywhere that would be far enough away to satisfy his neighbors:

The mother said her family befriended Strickland a couple of years ago. He was supposed to take her daughter to school one morning. Instead, police reports say he took the child back to his bedroom.

Strickland was sentenced last week to two years home confinement and 10 years probation.

"I told the judge all of that too. How can you let this man go? It hurts. It hurts to see a child molester get scott free," the victim's mother said.

Two years home confinement? Is that some sort of award? Seriously, who in their right mind thinks that confining a child molester to a home within viewing distance of his victim is anything more than a punishment for the victim? The fact that he's not rotting in prison is bad enough... but this judge has just put a sentence on the child, and her family making it possible for their every step to be watched by the man that abused this little girl. Can you even begin to imagine what they are going through?
