but because of those who look on and do nothing.

No Charges

Police said the teenagers were playing with starter pistols and toy guns, and then the 15-year-old boy got a handgun from his grandmother's room, pointed it at his sister and shot her in the face.

The boy told police he did not know the gun was loaded. Police said they are working on the shooting as a tragic accident.

If you must have a gun, please be smart enough to keep it:
A: Outta Sight of Children (of all ages)
B: Unloaded
C: Locked

There is no reason beyond stupidity that a 15 year old boy would pick up a gun, and point it at some one's face- regardless of whether he "thought" it was loaded or not. The first law of touching guns, the first thing you should do when you handle a gun is check to see if it is loaded, and if it locked.

While I can only blame the adults around this boy for not teaching him important lessons about gun safety, I have to say that I'm surprised there will be no charges against anyone involved. There is a difference between an accident, and a lack of instruction children as to proper gun handling, and keeping firearms in a safe place away from they can be used in the childish antics of young ones.

Two Year Old Fatally Stabbed

Tiara Jefferson left her two children, ages 2 and 2 months in the care of Detress Richmond while she went to work in hopes of making a little extra Christmas money. Richmon left the two young children and nearly a dozen other children with a 15 year old sitter while she left her home.

Reports
suggest that while the teenage babysitter was in another part of the home, a nine year old boy- the son of Richmond, stabbed Jefferson's two year old- Damya Jefferson.

Siblings of the nine year old referred to him as a bully, and that he often pushed them around.

As for Richmond, he has 13 children and has a history of being investigated by Texas Department of Child Protective Services, who have been to her house eight times since 1994 to investigate allegations that her children were neglected, not fed or living in filth. State officials are not offering any reason as to why the children were never removed from the home.

As for the nine year old- because of his age, he can not be charged with a crime, and therefore has been sent to a state hospital while the case is investigated.

Richmond's remaining children have been removed from the home, and CPS workers also took "Damya's 2-month-old sibling, because caseworkers questioned Jefferson's judgment when she left her children at a home that police said was dirty and potentially unsupervised". Personally, I find that odd. They had 8 chances to remove children from this home- and by their failing to act they were pretty much providing a seal of approval, and yet they expect that a 17 year old should make better choices than state trained and employed CPS agents did. After all, if they found no reason to remove children, that there was no "level of imminent danger", then how can someone else be blamed for failing to see the same things they missed?

Not a "sexually violent predator"

In 1972, a 18 year old girl was forcibly raped, and then murdered with a cleaver. Again in 1979, two more women were sexually assaulted in separate attacks on the same day. And then, on the same day in separate attacks three more women were sexually assaulted in 1981. Six violent attacks, within less than ten years- all from the same man- who was first convicted as a minor in the original rape/murder case.

Michael Etchison, the man responsible for these heinous crimes actually ran out of luck- and served the longest sentence for the last set of crimes- 26 years. In 1996, California's sexual predator law came into effect, coinciding with the release of Etchison from prison. However after spending the majority of his adult life incarcerated, the new law gave officials the opportunity to confine in state mental hospitals sex criminals who complete their sentences but are determined by doctors to have a mental disorder and likely to re-offend- and Etchison was one of the those confined.

Under the law, Etchison was sent to Atascadero State Hospital, a maximum-security facility on the Central Coast, where he remained for 10 years as his trial was delayed multiple times, Devitt said.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a revision to the 1996 law in September that allows for the indefinite commitment of such sexually violent predators.

When Etchison's trial began on Nov. 6, doctors for the prosecution testified that Etchison suffers from chronic mental disorders, including sexual sadism. Doctors for the defense testified that Etchison does not currently display symptoms from any diagnosed mental disorder and would thus not likely re-offend, according to Devitt.

Devitt acknowledged that during his confinement, Etchison has been "a model inmate'' with no reports of sexual assaults, acting out or other misbehavior. He also said psychological models have shown in some cases that the likelihood of re-offending drops as criminals get older.

Superior Court Judge Carl Holm said he does not feel Etchison poses a threat to society and sided with the defense, finding that Etchison did not fit the standard of a "violent sexual predator", and therefore ruled that he be released. Etchison walked out of custody from the county jail in Redwood City at 12:07 p.m. Friday without any restrictions like parole or ordered supervision.
Doctors for the prosecution testified that Etchison suffers from "chronic mentaldisorders, including sexual sadism and an antisocial personality disorder." However, Holm decided those findings were unfounded, "citing the fact that in the past 25 years Etchinson has had a perfect record as an inmate". Deputy District Attorney Greg Devitt referred to Etchison as a "articulate, bright individual who you would have no idea that he has this background".
A gruesome, bloody murder with a cleaver, which was preceded by a the raping of the murder victim; and a series of five other rapes within the course of less than 10 years. And yet, we're suppose to believe that he's not a violent sexual offender? The flaunted testimony that he hadn't recently repeated his crimes seems almost silly- as he's not really been able to, do to the fact that he's been locked up. But, given the history of his actions in previous times of "freedom", I can only assume that it will be a matter of time before someone out there learns first hand that the judge in this case overlooked the signs of violent offenses, threw caution to the wind and allowed the release of predator.

Serial Rapist

Update- AMW is reporting that an arrest has been made, with a DNA match to at least one of the cases.

I don't know what's going on in Texas- but whatever it is, it's not good. I'm really a little surprised that I haven't heard of this earlier, given the fact that I actively look for news that contains the words "rapist" and this is a story that by all means I should have picked up earlier.

The serial rapist-robber began his attacks in east Harris County in April and his assaults have occurred every 30 to 60 days.

But what makes this case so unusual is that women are not the target. So far the five victims have all been young, white males in their late teens or early 20s, mostly students still living at their parents' homes.

The attacker is described as a light-skinned black male, clean-cut and nicely dressed, in his late 20s. He stands 5-foot-6 to 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

Please read the full story here, and come back for updates on developments in this case.

From the previously mentioned AMW story:
Police in Baytown, Texas, just outside of Houston, say they have arrested Keith Chester Hill, a 19-year-old male suspect who may be the Houston Serial Rapist, an attacker believed to be responsible for the rapes of five men.

Hill was arrested at his home in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to police. Authorities say that DNA evidence connects Hill to the sexual assault of a male victim in May 2006. Police told AMW that they are currently working around the clock to see whether they can definitively link this suspect to the four other attacks.

Christmas Meme

I wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a very merry Christmas. Or a happy holiday of your choice.

In light of the season, I've been 'tagged' by Butch.

Ok, this is how it works: The player (me) must list 3 things that I would love to get for Christmas. Then I must list 3 things that I definitely do not want to get for Christmas. Then I tag 5 friends and list their names. The one I tag needs to write on their blogs about their Christmas wishes then tag 5 more people. They must also clarify all the rules. When you tag someone you need to leave a comment that says "you'’ve been Christmas tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog. Ok everybody...

Three things I'd love seems easy enough-
1. Snow- cause it's looking a lot like a green Christmas, and the kids want snow.
2. All my blogging friends to have a very very merry Christmas.
3. A vacation.

Three things I don't want:
1. Another damn Sex Offender/ Santa Story
2. The bloody OJ action figure.
3. To be fired from Sam's place- cause I swear I'm gonna do better in posting there this coming year.

That's my meme, and please- I need five people willing to add their wants/ not wants to it. Thanks to Butch for always remembering me for these.

And, I hope all of you have the best Christmas ever, filled with love and joy.

1201 Posts... And a scum bag in site.

Yeah, this is my 1201 post. And, tonight I realised I'd been missing something. I don't know, I've just not felt like writing. Let's face it, you all can click on FoxNews just as quickly as I can. I needed something. I just couldn't figure out what , so I just was sitting here reading the news, when I clicked on a story about all the crimes done in the name of Christmas. There's the Santa that kidnapped a child at a gas station, the Santa that was a sex offender, the Santa photographer that was a child molester... a bunch of crimes involving Santa. I don't care if you agree with the image of Santa or not- taking a charactor beloves by millions of children and using his likeness to prey upon children is just freaking wrong. Most of us see Santa as innocent icon representing a season of love. I'm not going to get preachy- I've already done that tonight with the little ones here, but I am getting rather tired of people using good things to further their bad ideas.

Santa is suppose to be a golly loving person- not a sick pervert. And it was that very thought that reminded me of another pure idea being trampled upon by like minded scum. It's the idea of love, and the other people are really just more of the same- child predators infecting the world with their devaint thoughts. These child molesters, these sexual predators aren't just happy with spoiling the image of Santa- nope they are going after something much much bigger- the word "love".

These lowlife pedophiles would like to use love to define the sick sexual attraction they have for children, and yet- their own comments prove that they know very little about what love really is.

L. Ashford, who so many of you already know about is the leader of the pack when it comes to the pedophile community of what they define as "girl lovers" and the rest of the world more correctly defines as "sick fucked up bastards who ought to be locked away". I know, I rarely cuss around here, but somethings are so foul, they can only be described with foul words. And, trust me, these pedophiles are foul beyond belief.

A recent thread over at the pedo forums shows exactly what sort of worthless pieces of crap parade around proclaiming themselves "lovers of children" while actually only being interested in nothing more than the sexual exploitation of said little ones.

This is the post, it's a response to a previous post on a documentary focused on the sexual exploitation and abuse of children through prostitution in third world countries.

In reply to ''I yum yum very good'' posted by The Phantom on on Monday, December 18 2006 at 07:10:13pm
With quotes like: ''I yum yum very good''... I definitely want to see that movie. Where can I find it?

I know all about Svay Pak (aka. K11). I saw the video of how the police were paid by the american government to raid the place. The children were crying and screaming "let me go!" while the police were dragging them away. After the police seized control of the place. They then paid other children to act as prostitutes to lure tourists into a trap.

The police together with those western organizations, then put the kidnapped children and teens into some kind of concentration camp. Most of the children and teens there, manage to escape the concentration camp so they can go back to work as prostitutes, because that's what they WANT to do.

Here's a good one:

After answering her with a no, she tells him, "I no money today, Mama-san boxing me." He gave the little girls a few dollars to take to the brothel owner so that she would not beat them and knew that he needed to act.

The guy was outsmarted by a child! Not bad for children he claims should be forced to go to school.

But once he had those little girls, whose heads barely reached the tip of his tie, aggressively solicit him for sex, and some, actually reaching to touch his crotch, he felt the issue became personal.

He should be arrested for touching childrens' hands with his crotch. Isn't that statutory rape or something? Now, where did I put my torch?

- Heartfallen

I'm taken back that so called girl lovers would openly support conditions that allow for children to be blatantly sold for sexual pleasures of strangers, support for a world where a child is forces to offer themselves to predators- not because they want to as he claims, but because their very life depends upon it.

Exposure to sexually transmitted diseases, physical abuse, rape, brutal treatment by their "owners", threats upon their life, and fear of having no where else to turn are all things these children are forces to live with on a daily basis- and yet this is a life style that Heartfallen believes is appealing to a child? The on going abuse of a child, and support of that abuse doesn't seem to resemble "love" to me.... but then again, we all know that despite the name that they put upon themselves, these pedophiles know nothing about love- and their only concern in regards to children is how to fulfill their own twisted lust for them.

How can something that leaves these sort of effects on children be considered anything remotely close to love?

Can contributing to the abuse, torture, starvation, and humilation of children really be considered an act that could ever even come close to resembling love? I don't think so. Putting children at risk to contract infections and deseases such as AIDS, Chancroid, Chlamydia, Genital Herpes and Genital Warts, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis doesn't come off as very loving either.

But, hey, the important thing is that these monsters who happily support such things can make justify their actions but calling it "love". After all, it's all about making themselves feel better when they go to bed at night, right?

Yeah, I'm done ranting for now.

Gravelle's Guilty

It seems that dispite their insistance that the cages where used as a source of "protection" for the children, a jury of their peers where able to see through the lies and convict the Gravelle's for the abuse their 11 adoptive children suffered at their hands.
From Fox:

A jury found Michael Gravelle, 57, and his wife, Sharen, 58, guilty of felony and misdemeanor charges of child endangering and abuse.

The couple had pleaded not guilty. They claimed during the three-week trial they needed to keep some of the youngsters in enclosed beds rigged with alarms to protect them from themselves and each other and stop them from wandering at night.

Each was convicted of four felony counts of child endangering, two misdemeanor counts of child endangering and five misdemeanor counts of child abuse. Each was acquitted of 13 charges.

All I can say is, it's about damn time.

A Must Have

The other day I was having a conversation with a friend who had lost power. And that's when it hit me- some people still don't know about one of the best little products in the world. An inverter.

Imagine this, it's 10 degrees outside, and you haven't had power for days. If you have a gas generator- it's no good to you anymore because there are no gas stations open. If you don't- well you don't have one, so you don't care about those who do have one. You just want a freaking cup of hot coffee before you lose your mind and start burning furniture as a heating source to boil water. Not the prettiest picture in the world. Except, in the mist of the cold- you remember that little gadget Lilo told you to buy, and you start thanking me like crazy for telling you about it. Cause, now you can: charge your laptop, make a pot of coffee, put a movie on for the kids, charge your cell phone, and trust me- the list goes on and on.

This is an inverter, an 150W Auto Power Inverter to be exact. And, for around $60 on sale- or cheaper if you find a less popular brand, you can get one of them now, and then whether you are on on a road trip, or in the middle of black out, you can plug the inverter into your car's cigarette lighter outlet and have a little electricity.

From Targus:

Product Details
The Targus 150W Auto Power Mobile Inverter is designed to simultaneously power and charge your notebook, mobile phone, iPod®, digital camera and other CE devices through the cigarette lighter outlet in your car. The inverter includes a 20” power cord with a cigarette lighter adapter and two AC outlets and can provide up to 150 watts of power. The mobile inverter includes built-in surge protection and features an automatic shut-off to preserve battery life and prevent damage. Its compact design allows it to lay flat on virtually any surface in your car. This is an ideal power source in your car, boat or RV.

I know, I'm not usually into the idea of promoting products, but I'll tell you what- this one is worth the money. And, I can't say this enough- EVERYONE with a vehicle should have at least one.

I know that for a little more money, and depending on the product- sometimes a little less money you can get adaptors for a lot of electronics for your auto. But this thing is better- because it allows you to plug in anything with a normal household plug.

You'll thank me later. I promise.

Ima's got a new home....

True crime blogger Ima has a new home, which I've been forgetful in mentioning. But, to make up for my lack or remembering to mention it- I'm telling you about it now. And, I'm recommending that you take a moment to read an interesting entry she has up on a rapist- as I'm sure that the story behind him, and his criminal conduct will be shocking to say the least.

So head over to Criminal Conduct, and

Not enough jail time...

Her name won't be released, out of a desire to protect the victim in the case who is her daughter. But in St. Louis, an appeal was made to throw out a reduced sentence of a woman who has to be one of the worst mothers in the world.

It all started when Joe J. Champion of Granite City, Ill made a deal with a woman that would allow him to molest her child, for a price of $20, per incident.

The woman, convicted in 2003 of aggravated sexual abuse and conspiring with Champion to help him molest the girl, was initially sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison — the minimum provided under federal sentencing guidelines.

She appealed, and an 8th Circuit panel of judges sent the case back to U.S. District Judge Charles A. Shaw, saying he might have given her a lighter sentence if he had known he wasn't bound by the guidelines.

A January 2005 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court loosened the nearly 20-year-old mandatory guideline system, making it merely advisory.

Shaw then sentenced the woman to 10 years, saying mental problems and drug addiction had influenced her behavior. The judge also noted that she'd taken parenting classes, had vocational training and gotten her GED while in prison.

Prosecutors challenged that sentence, and the appeals panel found the woman's efforts to rehabilitate herself neither "lessen the horrendous treatment" of her daughter, nor indicate that she wouldn't again offer her daughter to an abuser for money.

As disgusting as the crime itself is, I have to first comment on the "wouldn't again offer her daughter for money" defense of her legal team. I would gather that while they are most likely correct in the assumption that she won't be selling this daughter to a pedophile again- the reason behind it has more to do with her being in jail, the child being older, and the child not being with her- than any supposed change of heart on the mothers behalf.

That being said, I find the very fact that a mother, for any reason, could forcibly hold her own flesh and blood down while someone sexually abused them unforgivable and morally corrupt. The excuse that she had drug problems is lacking to say the least- millions of people have drug problems, few of them go to the extent of selling their children for drug money, even fewer would go to the length of threatening their child with "foster care" claiming it was even worse- while holding the child down. To participate in such a horrific crime is unimaginable, and lacking any parental connection to the child.

I'm glad the the higher court sided with the state in this matter, and threw out the lesser conviction... there is no amount of time that would ever be enough, but ten years is completely unacceptible.

Emailed Tips

Law enforcement in two counties, along with the following: agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the U.S. Attorney’s Project Safe Childhood, Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Integrated Child Exploitation Team- had their work cut out for them recently. It seems that an email tip came in, and while in the process of investigating it they found Brian Graham.

Graham is evidently a child rapist, or to be more clear- he engaged in nepiophilia- as he was arrested for raping a child under the age of 2.

Investigators said they discovered that Brian Graham had had sex with an 18-month-old child.
Graham, 48, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sodomy and sexual abuse. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

There are certainly different takes on the effects of sexual abuse on a child so young, with some believing that because the child will most likely not be able to recall teh abuse, that it's almost as if it never happened. However, a more accepted theory is described below:

The sexual abuse of the infant child, can, and often does, arrest, or significantly delay, cognitive, emotional, and behavioural development. Perry states that the sexual abuse of an infant is often accompanied by extreme disruptions of normal care-giving behaviours, and by extreme and prolonged stress responses on the part of the infant. He reiterates that altered care giving and prolonged stress response[s] will profoundly impact on the healthy development process of the infant.

Which is from an article written on sexual abuse of infants in Africa.

As a mother, I tend to go along with this theory, because as most people with children will tell you, there is often a connection between a parent and child that forms at birth, and grows as the child grows. There might not be actual memories, they way most of us define them- but there is that level of comfort, that feeling of protection and being safe.... infliction of such horrid experiences can not create that feeling, and I believe even in the very young, certain feelings or experiences can reflect from a child for years.

I can not begin to understand how anyone could look at a child, and then put them through such a abusive and cruel act. Personally, I'm hoping that Graham gets punished as harshly as humanly possible.... there will never be anything that comes close to complete justice for this littlest of victims- but removing him from the rest of society is a start.

Hat tip to fellow crime blogger Home Sweet Home- which by the way, in case I haven't mentioned it lately- provides a great source of information on domestic violence cases, and is really worth the click over to the site.

Carnival 55 of the True Crime Blogs

This week I am honored to bring you the 55th edition of the True Crime Carnival. And while it may not be the most cheerful Christmas present you receive this year, it's bound to be one of the more interesting ones.

So, pull your mouse closer and lets get ready to read some crime blogs.

First up, I'd like to offer you a look at one of my favorite crime blogs- Crime Rant, by true crime authors M. William Phelps and Gregg Olsen. If you haven't seen their blog yet, you've been missing a lot of good reading. They have an interesting follow up to the Judith/ OJ saga in their post
Cold as Ice: Me and Judith Regan’s Office Chair

Crime Scene Blog is looking hard at the Ipswich serial murders, and the suspect that they have recently arrested for the crimes.
From his post:
My first theory, which is just a that currently, is that he may have felt in his own mind that by killing these women he was somehow saving them from a life on the streets. It has been rumored that these women had succumbed to prostitution as a way to support their drug habits.

Perhaps Stephens thought that the only way to protect these women from who he felt was their true enemy, themselves, was to kill them.

I also have a special treat for you, as I welcome Police Download Report to what I believe is their first carival. This weeks entry, Lawsuits don't bring back dead people, is sure to be a good read:
Hanif Haskeem wrote a touching personal story about a police shooting from his perspective as a friend of the victim. He’s right in that the police almost never admit their own responsibility in these tragedies.

Hott on the Trail brings us The Price One Man Paid For Marijuana In Thornton, Colorado Was Way Too High, an interesting and fatal story about a drug deal gone bad.
Tim Marx Jr. paid more than he bargained for when he handed $4,500 to a man in a black Cadillac for some marijuana. When handing over that kind of money for something as risky as drugs, you would think Tim would have known and trusted the man he handed the money too.

Bonnie’s Blog of Crime is presenting the story of Family Annihilator: Robert William Fisher, a tragic and gut wrenching story of a father turned murderer..
Robert Fisher vowed that he would never divorce, as he was a “child of divorce” himself and did not want his children going through it. But his wife, Mary, was already planning on filing for divorce. Robert, a very controlling and cruel man, was not going to stand for it.

Steve Huff at Crimeblog.us has a great write up on his post Teacher at N.J. School Hospitalized:
This morning a teacher at Garfield East Elementary School in Willingboro, NJ opened a letter. She collapsed, and had to be taken to the hospital.

Apparently (according to the AP and MSNBC) there was a powder of some sort in the letter.

LE REVUE GAUCHE, another new comer to the True Crime Carnival has offered up White Collar Crime Reporter 1 for your reading pleasure.
In Canada it is fashionable for Acccounting Companies like Ernest and Young, and KPMG to publish annual reports on corporate fraud, and the losses incurred through white collar crime.

Dr. Deborah Serani, yet another new comer shares her recent collision with the world of crime in her post I'm a Crime Victim:
Today, at one o'clock in the afternoon, two armed men tried to break into my house. A foiled home invasion.

Long time crime blogger Trench dived into Myspace to prepare for his entry to the carnival- Va. Attorney General piles on MySpace:
Another State Attorney Gerneral who doesn't get it jumps on the MySpace scarewagon. This time from the Commonwealth of Virginia…

I can't help but insist that you head over to see his take on the matter.

Home Sweet Home has a special way of reminding us that not all families are as picture perfect as they look, and she does it again with her entry this week- Police aren't talking.
The house was all decorated for Christmas. Tim and Tina Eubanks had a good life. The couple had been married for 9 years. Tim was the director of radiology at a medical center, Tina was a mother and homemaker. They had moved to the area in 2005, and had already made many friends. By all accounts the couple got on well, friends and relatives say they didn’t see anything amiss.

That's it for this weeks edition, but for those who missed last weeks carnival, please stop by Slabtown Chronicale, for Carnival 54 Where Are You?
If you would like to find out more about the carnival or submit an article for an upcoming edition please go here.

Doron Silverman

Not guilty. Of course, the victim- his four year old son- is dead and unable to testify against him, thanks to the mother.

It's sad and pitiful that a child could be stuck with having two evil parents... one to abuse him, and one to kill him before he could get justice.

Santa Kidnaps Child

As much as I love the idea of magical reindeer and Santa, there is a reason why I tell my kids that the Santa's they see in public are just actors, and to be just as cautious about them, as they would any stranger.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A Batesburg-Leesville man dressed as Santa has been charged with kidnapping an 8-year-old girl, who was released unharmed.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says 55-year-old John Michael Barton was arrested Sunday night.

UPDATE: Found an even better news clip on it, complete with the photo of the Santa Perv seen above.

Christopher Culp

Christopher Culp had a drug habit. And he had a grandmother. Culp still has the drug habit- although he no longer has the grandmother.

Police say that Culp went to his grandmothers home to borrow $40. Once he obtained the money, he used it to buy crack cocaine. They believe that after purchasing the crack cocaine, Culp decided to return to his grandmothers home to get more money.

A 20-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla., man is accused of killing his grandmother by strangling her with an extension cord being used for holiday lights and then slitting her throat apparently over money for drugs, according to a Local 6 News report.

Investigators said Linda Hummer was found in a pool of blood by her daughter at the woman's home located at 916 Tracy St. Saturday afternoon. Hummer's grandson, Christopher Culp, was charged in her death.

Aron J. Pritchard

Aron J. Pritchard was watching his children, when he decided to stuff them into a dryer and turn it on. The children were 2 (a girl) and 3 (a boy). Police said that the boy was treated for burns at a hospital while the girl was not injured.

I can't begin to tell you what is wrong with this man. I'm just at a loss for words over it.

Weekend Perverts

Okay, so I've cheated and skipped actually writing anything for the last few days. I have a good excuse, but rather than sharing it- I though I would share some more screen captures.

Now, I have a even more interesting screen capture for you- but there is a little story behind it that I thought I would share first.

At one time, I lived in Orange County Florida, so naturally, I get a little more interested in news from there compared to my already high interest in sex crime cases. So when I heard about this one, I wanted to look into it.

It seems that a male in Orange County has been casing homes near golf courses looking for female victims. When he recently found one, he approached the home, told the female that he believed he may have broken a yard light with his golf ball- and offered to go look. He pushed his way into the home and attempted to sexually assault the woman.

The male is described as white, around 30 years old with a goatee. Personally, I'd imagine that by now the goatee is most likely gone. But that's just my thoughts on it.

You can find the entire news story, with video and a sketch of the would be rapist here.

And now that you're aware of the story behind this next screen capture, I should tell you that I found that story at CNN. For those unfamiliar with CNN's website, under the US news tab, they highlight stories from each part of the States. Sometimes they keep the headline the same on the story, but most times they attempt to improve upon it, or change it a little. For the story I shared with you- they took the liberty of changing the headline.... although I'm not sure it was a real improvement.
Pest? A Sex Pest? Really? I don't know about you, but when I think about a pest- I think about a nuisance or some sort of unwanted rodent... not an attempted rapist. Pest just doesn't seem to cover the disturbing nature of this criminal. Perhaps someone should buy CNN a better Thesaurus.

Today's Perv Alert

They slept like babies...

On a make shift bed, not far from the actual baby, Mary Shannon Hansche, 22, and Christopher Wayne Hansche, 26, slept peacefully. It could have been a picture perfect scene- father, mother and baby resting quietly in the still of the night... only with the exception that while the adult Hansches dreamed of lollipops and ice cream (I'm just guessing there) the infant child laying in a child seat beside them was having her toes chewed off by a pit bull puppy.

(They) told police they woke up to the sound of the baby crying, found her mangled foot and took her to the hospital about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

"They did not see the dog injuring the child," police spokesman Mark Natale said.

The girl underwent surgery Sunday at Sutton's Children's Hospital in Shreveport. There was no way to reattach the child's toes, Natale said Monday.

The puppy was 6 weeks old and had no record of receiving its shots and will be quarantined for 10 days to check for rabies. Natale said he did not know what the puppy's fate would be after that.

Only half guilty.

Not so long ago I shared the story of three little children whose mother decided that the love of a man was worth more than their lives.

The three children drowned when the family car rolled into a lake, which LE believed was an intentional act on the parts of Maurice LaGrone and the children's mother- Amanda Hamm.

Authorities said Hamm was going along with her boyfriend's plan to drown the children to get rid of the strain they added to the couple's sometimes abusive relationship.

Maurice LaGrone, now Hamm's ex-boyfriend, was convicted in April of murdering the children and is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

The jury came in, and while they found Hamm guilty of child endangerment, they found her not guilty of first-degree murder.
I suppose that makes her only half guilty- only sort of responsible for their deaths. She must be dancing circles right about now...

Fireman Wants Job Back

Let me start this by saying that I believe every person capable of working, should work, although I put some restrictions on exactly what sort of jobs some people should be allowed to have. Take for instance the teller at my local bank. I wouldn't a former bank robber filling that position. Even more, I wouldn't want a known child abuser babysitting my kids. Or a mass murderer working as the greeter at my local Walmart. You see, some people just shouldn't have some jobs.

Willard Hyslop had a job. In fact, he had what most people would consider a good job. And then some people complained, and he lost his job. Now, Hyslop wants his job back. And, his employer wants to give him his job back. Only, there are still those that think Willard Hyslop shouldn't have that job. So, he's sueing.

Hyslop worked as a firefighter for Kenockee Township. As part of that job, he fought fires- of course. But he also did other things. Like participate in parades, and work at nonemergency elementary school events. His says "He's a real hard-working guy. We never had a problem with him on our department," and is fully supporting him in his efforts.

The issue which caused Hyslop his job was a conviction in December 1992, for which he served a year in jail and 36 months probation.

The crime?

Hyslop pleaded guilty in St. Clair County Circuit Court to two counts of attempted, second-degree criminal sexual conduct for having sexual relations with his then girlfriend's 6-month-old baby, according to court records.

Rewind to the part where he attended community parades and school events, as part of his employment with the township fire department.
There are certain people we tell our children to trust, because we know that if there is ever the need for them- these are the people whose sole purpose of employment is to serve and protect. These are just normal jobs- they come with responsibility and the need for the public to be able to trust those doing the jobs. Yeah, Hyslop might be very capable of putting out fires, but he's not really the type of person I want comforting a child at the scene of an accident.

Michael Rossfeld

Despite the fact that due to a lack of imagination my home town is part of the name of this blog, this isn't really what anyone would call a "local blog". I barely cover anything remotely local, especially when compared to the number of non local cases I write about. However, this was one I just couldn't pass up.

Elida Ohio is a stone throw away from Lima, so close in fact that the "Lima Mall" is actually in Elida. They have their own schools and even their own post office- but their size is still small enough that it just becomes easier to say they live in Lima rather than trying to point Elida out on a map. It's a small town. A very small town. But a nice one. Normally quiet, and hardly enough trouble to ever really even notice that they are there. Which, I suppose is why it seems so odd that they made the news yet again.

It's not uncommon to read about Elida schools in the news, there are always levy's, or sporting events, or something usually half way entertaining to see. It's just that by now you all should know that when I mention someone being in the news, I'm not usually mentioning it for a good reason. And sadly, this time fits under that umbrella.

A few months back, I hinted at a story of a band director who was the main focus of some rather interesting rumors going around. The Elida alumni blogger from Right Moment had shared a story referring to some illegal sexual contact between the band member and a few students. Of course, like any good newspaper- the local paper took a little longer to publish anything on it... but we had enough information from Right Moment breaking the story to know that things were getting a little hot in Elida.

That would have been enough for any small town school to deal with. It's really not the sort of spot light that anyone wants shining down on them. And then, last week, something else happened.

An Elida High School science teacher was arrested Thursday after he attempted to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex who actually was an undercover police officer.

Michael Rossfeld, 45, was arrested just before 11 a.m. in Fairborn. Police there had been chatting with Rossfeld online for the past 30 days, Fairborn police reported.

Of course, the Lima News has picked up the story, which you can read in full here and here.

What really gets me is that these two completely different stories broke so closely together. Michael Rossfeld had a chance to learn from ex band director Bradley Roach's fate, and yet continued to persue a what he believed to be a 14 year old girl on the internet.

At some point, one would begin to think that this story can't get much worse. But like a good trashy book- it does. You see, Rossfeld chatted away with what he believed to be a 14 year old girl for over a month, and then agreed to meet her for sexual motives. The problem? Well, Rossfeld being a teacher should have been at work, instead he took a sick day off and made his way to Fairborn where he was arrested by police.

Right about now, there are going to be some people stepping in and saying that because it wasn't a real 14 year old, and because he didn't actually have any sexual contact with a real child (that we know of), then there really aren't victims in this case. But, we should all know that in cases like these, the victims aren't just the ones that we see directly connected to the crime.

I'm taking a page from Steve Huff, and not publishing the link to the site, due to privacy reasons- however, I did want to share with you one reaction from a Elida Student. Just so that you can see the depth of how far these crimes can reach. (H/t Right Moment for the link)

I go to Elida High School as most of you know and as most of you also should know that the police just arrested an Elida teacher for trying to have sex with a 14 yr old. this makes me so sick to my stomache. this makes me sick because this teacher was my student council adviser. i worked with this man and i put my trust in him and thought nothing of it. i thought he was a great guy. its wierd how you think you know someone and then you come to find hes someone else. i mean i spent the night at this mans house once. wierd! i donno it makes me sick plus everyone at school here is talking about it like its a joke. its not funny at all.
[...]
i feel like i'm being so scard now days first i was at the scene where a girl lost her father in a burning car now someone i thought was a good guy and i trusted is in jail. grrrrr so much grrrr!

Right Moment pointed out that there are a few comments in there that might make your eyebrow rise a little, but I'll go along with him and let you figure out which ones for yourself.

Some people have nothing better to do on a Friday Night

So, they keep their sick little selves busy by searching for child porn on the internet.

It's just too bad for them that I don't have anything better to do on a Friday night than post the screen capture of their visit.

Two Choices...

I've mentioned this before, in passing, but it's relevant so I'm bringing it up again.

Growing up, my immediate family all were active Jehovah's Witnesses, therefore we didn't celebrate any of the holidays or birthdays. As a child this never really bothered me much, because having never experienced any of that- I didn't know what I was missing. I'm grown now, with a family of my own, and I try to always make every celebration a little more special- I suppose I'm attempting to conpensate for what I didn't have as a child.

When I imagine my children all grown, I want them to be able to look back and and have memories to smile about. And, while they are still young enough to believe in the magic of the holiday's, I want them to just be wowed by all of it.

Last year, my older children came up with the greatest of ideas on Christmas Eve. They had planned out a way for their dad to snap a photo of Rudolf, so that we they woke in the morning, they'd be able to see "proof" that he'd actually eaten the reindeer food they had left out. I suppose they must have had a lot of doubt that the oats and glitter was really magic reindeer food. The plan was rather simple, their dad would wake all night by the window- and when Rudolf came into view (they'd be smart enough to place the magic food within visible distance of the window) he'd snap a quick photo.

Their presentation of this idea was very sweet, and very convincing. "Dad" of course agreed to try this, but with a glance at me, warned them that it might not work. As the kids walked away, I overheard one saying to another one that he could do it, after all dad can do anything.

There was no way that I was letting this chance to make my kids happy slip by, so after taking a few pictures of the view out my office window, and seeking the perfect reindeer on Google.... I was able to do a little magic with Fireworks, and get the much sought after "proof" that Rudolf had come, and had eaten some of the magic reindeer food they'd left for him. Of couse, to really pull this off, someone had to go out and trample around in the snow... but I quickly decided it was worth the effort as I printed off the picture and presented it to my husband for approval.

When the kids woke up in the morning, that photo was the first thing they saw, and I swear their smiles were bigger than they have even been. The best part, hearing that one little child tell the other "see, I TOLD you dad could do anything".

I decided to share this story, because I read another one today that bothered me so much. You see, I'm not the perfect parent, I make mistakes, all the time. But, I know that despite my faults- what matters to my kids now, and what will matter to them in the future is the effort I've put into our relationships. Every parent has two choices: to give your kids good memories, or to give them bad ones.

A little girl went to school complaining of a headache and vomiting. At some point, she told school officials that one of her parents had kicked her- in the stomach and in the head.

Police are investigating the situation, as they should be. But I can't help but think, with a little over 2 weeks before Christmas, what sort of memories are these parents giving to their child? It's not just the physical abuse that will hurt this little girl, this will emotional hurt her. The headache will go away, and the injuries to her stomach will heal... but she'll know what they have done- and have to remember the pain they inflicted on her.

If you are so powerless over your rage that feel you are going to abuse your child- then please pick up a phone and seek help, before that feeling leads to actions. Give your child memories that will make them smile and thank you in the future, rather than ones that will hurt them, not jsut now... but later on too.

Tindall

Not far from where I live is a little town know mostly for it's slopes- known as Mad River Mountain, although it also holds the claim of having the shortest street in the US of A, and (as if that's not enough) claims to have had the very first concrete streets too.

Bellefontaine is the type of town where you don't stop to think about whether you're safe... in this small town you just are. Or, at least that was the general opinion around town. And for one family, the thought that a monster could be living so close to home never came to mind...

Joan Green raised six children in her lifetime. She was a Sunday school teacher, and a window. At 72 years of age, Joan lived alone, a few doors down from a group home that housed troubled teenage boys. But she'd been there a long time, and there didn't seem to be any reason for concern on behalf of herself or her children.

In 2003, the then 13-year-old Tindall admitted to raping a 14-year-old classmate at his Huntsville home near Indian Lake, other charges of rape and kidnapping were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea from him, and he ended up serving two years before being paroled out and sent to the group home near Green. Because of his age, there was no notification given that a dangerous sex offender had been relocated in the otherwise peaceful neighborhood.

Tindall had lived in the group home for a few months when police responded to a call about a break in at a nearby pizza parlor. Police say Tindall was able to get past a door alarm and home monitors Dec. 23, broke into the pizza parlor. During the investigation into the break in, police were able to follow Tindall's tracks in the snow to Green's home.

Tindall had entered Green's home through a rear window, and proceeded at some point, up to Green's bedroom. He viciously attacked Green, assaulting and raping her before finally killing the 72 year old. Tindall then returned to the group home, where police later found him.

Tindall plead guilty to aggravated murder in September, after prosecutors dropped charges of rape, aggravated burglary, breaking and entering and abuse of a corpse. on Tuesday he was sentenced.

He was convicted as an adult in Logan County Common Pleas Court of killing Joan Green in her home Christmas Eve last year, sentenced to 30 years, with the chance of parole. Once released, he will have to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life.

She loved a man more...

I tend to look at things that "go wrong" and try to pin point the exact moment when tragedy became inevitable. I've never really been one that was willing to buy into the idea that no one saw it coming, that things just happen.

The very moment that Amanda Hamm's children became nothing more than a tragedy waiting to happen didn't start when her and her then boyfriend Maurice LaGrone Jr placed her three kids in a car and drove to a boat ramp. No, these kids were doomed the moment that Hamm decided that she could really love a man more than she could love her children. I'll explain that in a moment, first though for those not familuar with the case, I'll set the scene up for you.

Hamm had three children, Christopher Hamm, 6, Austin Brown, 3, and Kyleigh Hamm, 23 months. At some point, it doesn't really matter when, Hamm began dating LaGrone. The two of them decided that the children rather got in the way of their impassioned love affair, and killed them. The method of murder wasn't unheard of, they drove to the boat ramp, and got out of the car at some point, and then allowed the car to sink into the water, children inside.

Now, even the prosecutor has attempted to beat around the bush on what the real problem was, by saying that Hamm has low self-esteem and needed a man to "validate her existence." I call bullshit. Hamm didn't need to validate anything other than the fact that her children posed a threat to her ability to have the freedom of a single childless woman. You see the thing about motherhood that seems to bother some people is that you suddenly are stuck with a load of responsibility, and have to cut down on doing certain things because you have children to care for. Clearly, this wasn't Hamm's idea of a good time, and it got in the way. LaGrone evidently care for the idea of being a second hand father to a bunch of kids, as it took some of the fun out of being with Hamm.

Being the worthless scum that they were, Hamm and LaGrone decided the best method of dealing with their "problem", which was the fact that they had to take responsibility for three kids. Some people when faced with this "problem" solve it by giving up the children to the state. Hamm and LaGrone evidently decided a more convenient method would be killing the kids.

Back to what I mentioned before, about what the real defining moment that destined these children to suffer was. That moment was when Hamm decided that a mere man was more important than her children were. When she actually was able to say that she loved him, more than them. I suppose it becomes easy to choose a man over a child when you've adapted to the idea that he is more important than anything else. But, I swear there should be a general rule for these sorts of women who find that acceptible. If you find yourself loving any man more than you love your own flesh and blood, your own children- do those children one good deed- and find a judge willing to terminate your parental rights.

You should never love yourself, more than you love your children. And you should never love a man, more than you love your children. When you fail to put your kids first- they suffer... and sadly the moment that you declare someone else more important than your kids- you have set them up for on a dangerous road.

You can read more about Hamm's and LaGrone's fates here.

Little Girl Lost

There are some relationships between a child and a parent that go beyond being special. They are the original examples of common phrases like "mommy's boy" and "daddy's little girl". The extreme love between the parent and the child isn't tarnished during the rocky years of adolescents... it's not deterred by the wayward behavior of a confused teen. It remains strong, although often tattered and beaten by the phone calls home from schools, the unapproving glances from family friends who are one step away from declaring the child a lost cause, through the tough times and the pain- it remains strong and unbreakable.

My little girl still sees her dad as her hero, he's still her favorite guy. She's still his biggest cheerleader, and more than sure that he can "do anything". I know, from experience that over the years, as she grows she won't smile as big when he comes home. She'll start to prefer being with her friends over playing soccer with her dad.... and he'll be replaced by a long list of boys as her "favorite" guy. It's what teenage girls do. And he, like any good father of a teenage girl- will be deeply burned by the thought that his little girl has grown up, and away from him. What he knows, and what she'll learn is that no matter what- she'll always be his little girl, and he'll always be there for her.

Marissa Karp had entered those confusing teenage years, and had evidently struggled with the the same problems that fall upon many teenagers, however her story had a much sadder ending.

This is Marissa's story...

The Herald reports her problems began soon after her mother's death in 1996. Her father, Gary Karp, remarried, and the family relations were strained. Marissa began breaking curfew and smoking. She was sent to DCF, to her grandmother's home, and back to DCF, until she was placed in a Broward youth shelter, The Leaf.

When Marissa's time was up at the temporary shelter, she was sent to the Brown School, a facility for troubled youth, but ran away in January 2002. Three months later, Marissa was found in Fort Lauderdale and placed in the DCF building on West Sample Road.

On April 17, 2002, Marissa was reported as a missing/runaway juvenile to the Broward Sheriff's Office. Though Marissa had run away, she maintained phone contact with family members and acquaintances through early August 2002.

Despite public searches for the young girl, Marissa was never found alive. On August 19, 2002 deputies responded to the L-28 canal near MM52 on Alligator Alley after a local fisherman discovered a plastic bag containing the body of a young woman floating in the water... that body would turn out to be Marissa.

This is where we come back to the love between a parent and a child that I spoke of at the start of this post. Because, despite all the problems that came between Marissa and her family- she was always her daddy's little girl. And, despite years of not knowing, Gary Karp is still fighting and searching for answers as to who murdered his child.

AMW SITE- My daughter's name is Marissa Elan Karp and on August 19, 2002 her body was found shot and dumped in a canal off of Alligator Alley between Ft. Lauderdale and Naples. She was only seventeen at the time of her murder.

Today would have been Marissa Karp's birthday. In hopes of finding a lead that will help bring justice to Marissa Karp, Steve Huff has asked various bloggers to post her story today. I'll be adding the links later today, but until then you can keep an eye out for new posts on her case by following this link, which will do a blog search for posts on Marissa. And be sure to keep an eye on Steve Huff's place, as he's been working hard to put together a post on her murder that is sure to be insightful. His first post on Marissa can be found here.

Geontae Glass

Yesterday, in a moment of being hurried I posted a couple of Amber Alerts, and went on about my day. In the back of my mind I thought of them- one involved an infant, stolen from her mother and the other involved a little boy.

The story said that little Geontae Glass was sleeping in the back of his mothers car when she stopped at a store to grab some juice. Glass' mother reported that she left him asleep in the car while she quickly ran inside. In what could only be described as a mothers worse fear, a man approached the vehicle, and jumped inside- stealing the car with the child still in the back seat.

A search for the child quickly began, with an Amber Alert issued, listing the child as in extreme danger.

Geontae Glass was found this morning, apparently murdered. At first thought, most of us will quickly wonder what the car thief had hoped to gain by coldly murdering a little boy. How could anyone justify killing a child over a stolen car?

Before your heart breaks for the mother in this case, new developments have taken a twist on this "stolen car" story, and police now are taking a close look at the mother and her boyfriend for the child's death.

A mother who told police her 5-year-old son was abducted by a carjacker lied to police to cover up his death as a result of "physical abuse and trauma," a sheriff authorities in Alabama told CNN on Tuesday.

"We believe the evidence is going to show that these two -- in different acts, in different roles in the tragedy -- caused the death of this young fellow," said James Hayes, sheriff of of Alabama's Etowah County.

The body of Geontae Glass was found early Tuesday in the mother's car outside her boyfriend's residence in Rainbow City, near Gadsden, Hayes said.

The Worst Excuse Ever

There will always be those that attempt to rationalize their disgusting behavior by blaming someone else, or something else for the things that they do. This is very common behavior when it comes to child molesters- who will often fault drug problems, drinking problems, or even normal everyday stress for their abuse of a child.

Most times that I come across one of their lame excuses, I can just shake my head and say that I've heard it before.... and therefore ignore the stupidity of their reasoning. Today, well friends, today is different. Because today, I actually seen an excuse that I haven't already read thousands of times before. And even more importantly, it pretty much takes the cake when it comes to illogical and unmoving excuses.

A man who pleaded guilty to molesting two girls told a judge he did it because of his wife's excessive bingo playing.

"My wife was never home," Floyd Kinney Jr. said during his plea hearing Friday.

Kinney's explanation did not sit well with Northampton County Judge F.P. Kimberly McFadden,

"Some people, when their wives are not home, decide to do other things, like clean their living rooms," McFadden said. "Your behavior is beyond the pale."

Thank God this judge wasn't one of those liberal "willing to believe anything" judges or this monster may have gotten away with this shameful way of thinking.

Honestly, folk, BINGO? Really?

A Meme...

True Crime bloggers rarely ever get tagged with a meme it seems, and personally, anytime I do- I sort of expect it to come from fellow local blogger Cathy. She's sort of silly that way, which is always more than fine with me. I just smile and shake my head saying "Cathy and her crazy memes". I'm pretty sure she does this mainly because the odds of me being able to truthfully say I've already done it are so low...

So guess what? Cathy had tagged me again. Here it goes:

5 Christmas song meme... my fave five, in no particular order:

Silent Night
Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town
Frosty the Snowman
Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer

Yes I know that four out of the five are kids songs. That may have to do with the simple fact that I like them best, because I love hearing the little ones sing them to me... there's just nothing sweeter.

Since I am bad at knowing who to tag... I'm willing to cheat and just ask for volunteers.... offer your favorite songs in the comment section.

A "very mature" Girl

Her mother said she was "very mature". That she was a good student. And of course, that the mom just doesn't understand how her kid could become involved in something like this.

Watch out people, it seems that it's always the "very mature" ones... at least according to their parents.

Mark Noriega used a young accomplice to get him tools from the outside, police said. Sheriff’s deputies caught the inmate trying to punch a hole in the wall of his cell on the fifth floor of the jail using a set of tools he got with the help of a 14-year-old girl, police said.

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that this girl wasn't as mature as her mother thought, and surely didn't have the normal range of common sense that most 14 year olds are equiped with.
[...]Noreiga made phone calls from jail to the girl, convincing her to supply him with a bag of tools to break free[...]

Deputies said the girl took the bus from her house in south Dallas and waited outside the jail as Noriega broke out a window, lowered a rope made of sheets, and hoisted the gym bag to his cell.

"The window wasn't big enough to crawl through. He was trying to make that hole bigger," Reyna said.

David D. Brown

David D. Brown was convicted of second-degree murder in 1991 for killing his baby, he ended up serving 15 years in prison before being paroled in August 2005. In October of this year, Brown reported violated the terms of parole, and a warrent was issued for his arrest. Police say they attempted to "find or contact" him for nearly six weeks.

LE was unable to locate Brown, until after he committed yet another round of crimes, this time killing his cousin, and critically stabbing another cousin.
A Riverview man was charged with murder after killing one woman and seriously injuring another. Prosecutors believe the motive for the crime was a lesbian relationship the two women had begun.

33-year-old David Dwayne Brown was charged with murdering 20-year-old Melissa Morgan, the mother of his 5-month-old child, on Sunday.

He is also accused of stabbing 20-year-old Angela Christian, who was still in the hospital in critical condition, Wednesday.

Brown is the first cousin of both women.

There's no doubt that this man should NEVER have been paroled to begin with, 15 years for killing a child is not enough, ever. Factor in that he had already attacked these same two women three weeks ago, and was able to get away with it, it just continues to make this worse. Add to that the fact that had he been arrested after the parole violation then two more victims would have been spared.... and this just becomes even more unacceptable. In honestly, there are just too many defining points in this mans history that prove he COULD have been stopped, before his criminal behavior lead to the death of yet another person.

In the end, he was charged with first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and being a habitual offender. One has to wonder what will happen the next time he gets paroled.
