The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Area Man Drowns Son

Some things just make you wonder. Other things tend to make you want to reach out and seriously injure someone. The latter was my reaction to the Fort Jennings man who drowned his OWN child. Michael Luebrecht. I sat growing madder and madder as I watched the story unfold on the local news. Heres a 13 month old child, another innocent victim of it's parent(s) as the too familiar story goes. When did we forget that parents are suppose to protect, love, shield, and comfort their kids? How does one take any child- let alone a child who they have helped bring into this world, and decide to end their life? A whole country divided and cried over a case where an adult woman's parents fought to keep her alive- thousands mourned her passing, and her parents lingered even for a small chance of hope to keep her in this world. It brings to mind the fight parents should have for their kids- the desire to always have hope. This drowning reminds of the other side to some people in this world. We may never know the thoughts going through this mans head- or the reason why he didn't just leave the young boy with the sitter. But if ever one was deserving of death- I should say that this would be that case. I look at my own kids- and think how after one gets in trouble I feel the guilt of having to punish them, and wonder how one could ever live with knowing that they killed one of their own. I doubt even the deepest darkest pit in hell will do justice to what this man deserves. I am sure that like most horrible parents he will claim insanity- that tends to be the most common excuse- and although some would claim a person has to be crazy to perform an act such as this- I believe the insanity plea to be a defense lawyers poor excuse for an evil evil person. What could a 13 month old child to to invoke such a wrath in their father that they commit this horrifying crime? Is insanity really insanity. Think of it- if he hasn't spent years of his life bound up in a straight jacket, locked in a padded room hearing "people" talk to him with a mass of white knotted hair growing wildly in every direction, speaking in make believe languages, pretending to fly off of the roof top that doesn't exist and attempting to peal the flesh from his bones while gnarling at imagined bats - we have no right to grant him the benefit of being insane. Put him to death. Fill a bath with cold water, hold him under and let the water wash away any life he has in him. But don't believe for a minute that the story is over. There are many who will survive this, who will have to make peace with the loss they have suffered, and will have to find away to go on. And there's a small child that will never be able to. His life was stolen, and can not be replaced, can not be forgotten.

About

I have no idea what anyone would want to know about me for. But everyone seems to have a nice "about me" page, so I might as well have one too.

I welcome all comments, and rarely discard any, although I have been know to trash spam and anything offense. If I am able to keep my thoughts calm, so can you. So, watch the words in your comments.

For those who skipped over here without taking a moment to read anything and surfed in on the search terms "nude children" or any other disgusting terms, I will screen capture your info from my site meter, post it on here for everyone to see and forward a copy to the FBI, and your ISP. Just like I did this one this one and this one. Call it just my way of saying thanks.

Most of my posts will focus on crimes, sexual offenders, child abuse and the like. I believe that we must stand up and take action, or else sit down and shut up. This is my method of standing up. If you spend your life turning away from the stories that you deem "unsettling, or disturbing" than you become part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.

As I have watched the inbound traffic, I see many people coming in through searches wanting to know where to go to find assistance when the system that is suppose to protect them fails, if by chance you are one of those people- feel free to contact me. I can not promise anything, but I will willingly do what I can to help. I believe it is our responsibly to help those that we can, and I welcome the chance to do that.

I welcome all tips that are relevent, and the occasional that is not. Right now I spend hours searching out cases to present to you everyday. If there is a issue with which you would like to contact me about- contact links are in the far right column, or you may leave it as a comment on a post.

~Lilo

Okay, I'm adding to this for an important message. It's Lima, like the bean. LIE-MA Bean, It is not Lima, like the one in Peru- LEE-MA Peru. Thank you.

Lima Ohio, Allen County Registered Sex Offenders

Lima Ohio, Allen County Registered Sex Offenders

**Updated list of registered Sex Offenders can be found here.

Follows is the sex offender list I have searched for the Lima/ Allen County area. Remember that not every sex offender will be listed, some committed crimes before the law went into effect, and some have yet to be caught. If you doubt this, Lima municipal Court will have a case file against Kenneth R Emig, a pedophile convicted before the law therefore spared the orded to register. He likes to play Santa at schools. Just ask the Lima News, who wrote the story of it. Or Shelley Hutson- the teacher who knowing what is he (family relation) brought him in to have a school full of small kids sit on his lap. You may also ask the school board for her permenant record to see the case. She is still working at Lima City Schools as a teacher. Makes you fill safe huh? Anyways, after the clipping I read in the paper and posted yesterday, I thought I would put up this list. You make hit the link and do a search, and at that site you will be able to sign up for email notification of anyone registered that moves within a mile of your home. You may also see the offense and a picture of the pervert. Heres the web address again eSORN

The saddest thing I have read this week

LimaOhio.com: "LIMA - In about a three-week time span, three 2-year-old girls tested positive for the sexu-ally transmitted disease gonorrhea.
The girls live in a seven-block area, but that's the only link between the toddlers that epide-mological tests found, Allen County Health Department Nursing Director Becky Dershem said. The numbers were released Friday at the Allen County Health District's monthly meeting, and health officials and law enforcement investigators are doing what they can to find the person or people responsible. The exact area where the girls live was not released" Read whole story

***********I am hoping when they catch the pervert that is responsible for these acts, he is raped and beaten to death in prison.

Military Closings

I am not sure as to how one could justify closing or reducing Military Bases while our Country is at war, not just any war- but one with which there seems to be so very much at stake. Not just Iraq, but at this time America seems to be at war with people from all nations, we have built up a magnet for the worlds hatred to be pointed at. Until the finial terrorist slips away into the harsh unknown darkness of death, until every single person both here and on foreign ground can reside to put away the dispute over America and what type of Nation we have become; until there is a understanding of peace throughout the world- we are a nation at war. At war not just with other countries but with those people that would stand up and take action, those that would praise the fall of Lady Liberty, those who desire to bring America down into the pits of poverty stricken, freedom-less, ungoverned, hopelessly torn realms they would create. America has seen the anger which- deserving or not- has been directed onto her. We have watched as the terrorists have brought down planes into our not just our buildings but our very belief in our own "safeness". They have created a war to which we have to fight. And yet Washington sees fit to close the very soles of what protects the heart of the Nation. The heart of OUR Nation. If even one man in Washington was truly worried about the budget of America- why have they not yet stepped up and offered to volunteer their services of political representation or service? How much more money do they need? When was the last time Ted Kennedy decided to donate his entire paycheck back into the American budget? Let's take the yearly salary for every elected Washington official and defer it for 20 years into an account dedicated to Military funding. Lets start with the 2005 Base Realignmnent and Closure Commission and Congress.

Lima at this time was lucky enough to be spared on the list. For this I am happy. But lets look at the jobs and the income lost to many many states, cities, small towns, and actual people. America is at a shortage for employment to begin with. We are at a war which to be honest- we will be fighting long into the future. And remember that it's OUR tax dollars funding this to begin with. Shouldn't the people get a say in what happens? Somehow the whole thought of "A Nation for the People, by the People" has been lost on Washington. As happy as I am that I voted for Bush- I really have to wonder why he needs more of my money to fund his spending. It seems that at some point in time political persons can to the conclusion that they can spend money how they want. I guess it is truly easier to spend some one else's money foolishly than your own. Washington- States- in fact everyone who gets a say in the spending of OUR tax dollars seem to forget how much we worked for that money. When do we get to have a say in how it is used? I know after losing the prison here in Lima, we couldn't have taken another cut in jobs. Not when the cut is handed down from a group of men sitting in their cushioned high class chairs, looking out of their huge office windows with great views and smoking cigars that cost more than we pay a week in groceries, wondering if they should take the limo home or have their driver arrange for a helicopter. Sure Washington- spend my money on fancy trips all over the world, spin around in your fancy chairs, have great catered dinners with other fancy rich people on my tab- after all the lot of you have managed to pick 33 major military installations and hundreds of other facilities for closing or downsizing... during what could be the Nations most vulnerable time. Yes, that's right sit back and congratulate yourselves in what should be know as the BRAC- Blatantly Repulsive act of Congress. Because no matter what all the State representatives and Congressmen say now... at some point this was okayed. Maybe they where playing a "it's okay for other states- just not in mine" game. But think about it- they knew the jobs and funding would be cut somewhere... and even if their state had been spared, shouldn't they object just as much for every other state? They make decisions that effect EVERY American, not just the ones within their own states borders. Shame on you Congress, Shame on you Bush, Shame on the Commission. And shame on us for setting back and taking it.

Sheriff Beck

While at Walmart today buying a "tie it to two trees and lay in it" hammock, and a very cute Solar Captain with a little lantern that lights up for Tim; I ran into Sheriff Dan Beck. Say what you will, but I like him. I like the fact that he has the balls to come out and say what problems Lima has, that he focuses on housing, employment and the crime. That he expects people to acknowledge the problems and find ways to improve the area. Anyway, we started up a conversation- I must say it was the first I have ever had. And to my enjoyment I like him even more in person. The city officials may be right, he's county and should deal with the county, but when you realize that Lima IS in the county, you understand that his position is what allows him to bring to light the problems. Lima should be cleaning up the drug houses, they should be creating a community that attracts business. They should be paying attention to the fact that in the past 20 years Lima has begun to sink into a dark place. At night the streets aren't safe and in the day the city looks worn and old. Not old as in nostalgic, but old as in dirty, rusty, needing serious repair. Yeah yeah yeah- if you sit in your pretty house around your $100,000 homes neighborhood and don't drive down the streets like Rice, Kibby, Cole, Elm (excepting that nicer party headed towards Shawnee) then no you wouldn't notice how ugly the city has gotten. You may not even notice the crime or the underemployed people standing in line for Welfare... but for the rest of us living in the real world- Dan Beck deserves the respect he has earned standing up and wanting to talk about the problems, and wanting to find solutions for them. To the conversation- I am glad I had it. I am glad to know that he knows how important what he is doing is to the people who are really being effected by the troubles of Lima. See even living in Shawnee- the troubles of Lima slip over the border line and hit here too. If Lima becomes a town of drugs and unemployed people- it won't be long before the smaller townships and communities begin to feel the effects of it. So Beck.. keep on speaking, keep on making the point until the rest of the officals begin to open up and hear you.

The Man at Andersons

When going to Anderson's today for the screening stuff (see "Screening" post) i noticed a man walking over as me and Casey where walking to the car. He informed us that it was National Prayer Day, and gave both of us a small "bible". First I must say that I have begun to be suspicious of any one approaching the kids or me or me and the kids that I do not know. Being the overprotective parent that I am, and reading too many headlines of "Woman Missing" "Child Gone" I seem to always be looking around for anyone that may be looking to closely at someone or approaching. You just never seem to know what can happen these days. Despite the uncomfortable feeling of this man walking towards I, I tried to remain polite while putting my things in the car and keeping Casey close to my side as we walked around to get in. The man gave us the bibles, "God bless"ed us and began to walk away. As me and little bit headed around the van to get in, the man started back. He informed me that his youngest was a Marine in Iraq finishing up his third tour over there. You could see his desire to brag on his son... and I am not one to over look those serving our Country so I wished him a speedy ans safe return. I then let him know I had a family full of Military people, from cousins to my dad (who served in the Army) and my grandfathers. It's nice to know that these people put their lives on the line to serve a country that has not always given the thanks that it should. And it's good to see a father so proud of his son that he speaks of him to strangers. I still felt uncomfortable with having a stranger approach me and Casey. Like I said, these days it's not safe, and you never know what can happen. So I am sitting here thinking how sad it is that the world has become such an unsafe place for us to live in. I remember the days when as a little girl my parents would take us places. Strangers would come up and talk to them and us as if it was nothing. Things have changed. My grandparents never locked their doors at night. I keep mine locked even in the daytime when I am home. As kids we would take off in the alley behind the house to go to our grandparents house by ourselves. My kids can't go outside alone. With all the headlines- you really don't know who's lurking around, what harm can become someone in even the most innocent place or which stranger is the one with bad intentions. I thank the soldiers putting their life at risk for us, and the families that just need someone to tell about it. And if I am the stranger at the mall you decide to tell about them to... I am taking note of every detail from how tall you are, to the car you drive away in. Which I'm hoping doesn't have me stuffed in the back of it.

The Mayor Vote

Well Well Well, The campaign is now down to two men. Not a bit surprized by the outcome. What where the chances of Berger losing by a margin large enough to kick him out of the race? Hopefully the November race brings more sensible people to the poles. Anyhow Here's the count direct from the Lima News... limited to Bushlong and Berger.

Berger took 56 percent of the vote, or 2,022 votes, with 33 percent, or 1,203 votes, going to Bushong.

And to think that Lima has a population of somewhere in the 40,000 margin. Hum. Slackers? Lazy? Not interested? Just given up? Whats the reason behind this? Makes one think doesn't it.

For full election results see the Lima News.
