The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.

Rocky Mountain Sex Offender

Although I must wonder why the police felt they should let this man run around free while they collected more evidence... I stand up and applaud the judge, the District Attorney, and a little boy for being brave beyound what must adults will have to be.

Brent Brents case:

Between Sept. 1 and Nov. 11, police say, Brents repeatedly molested his girlfriend's 8-year-old son.

The mother, who began dating Brents in October, wasn't aware she was dating a convicted child molester until her mother-in-law's gut reaction led to the revelation of his criminal past. He had just gotten out of prison for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl 16 years earlier.
Her son later would detail the sexual contact, but police held off on arresting Brents so they could collect more evidence. Then, an arrest warrant for Brents languished for more than a month awaiting the investigative officer's signature.

By then, however, Brents was nowhere to be found and would go on to terrorize several other women and two school-aged children in Aurora and Denver.

The delay in arresting Brents have since led to a series of reforms and changes in Arapahoe County, including the demotion of the Aurora police chief and revamped procedures in the district attorney's office.

As police searched for Brents on Feb. 4, he broke into a home in Aurora and attacked a 49-year-old woman. He beat her, attempted to rape her and then robbed her.

For the second time in three days, Brents faced his accusers and their families, then sat stone-faced and flushed on Friday as Arapahoe County Judge Vincent R. White sentenced him to 190 years in prison.

That's in addition to the 1,319-year sentence imposed Wednesday in Denver after Brents pleaded guilty to the rapes of nine women and children and the brutal beating of another woman.

Its sad that this man was able to harm so many, for so long. But with around 1500 years in jail, I am sure that the world will be at least a little safer without him free.
